Go mo_girl! I have a few tomato sprouts but nothing like my pansies, cornflowers and poppies. Can't wait to see what happens when the weather stays a little warmer!

Then it's not too soon to give up on sprouts? I was beginning to wonder if I should start indoor plantings these next few weeks, just in case, or give the WSn seeds more time. This is my first WS year and I'm not quite sure what to expect. :)

I was kinda scared to start my tomatoes early again this year after I lost many sprouts in last years mid April overnight dips into the 20's. But you wrecked it for me now so I think I'll try some of the wonderful seeds I got from Trudi and plan on hauling them in if it comes down to it! LOL!

vera, I was nervous about starting mine early this year too. now hearing about sprouts has me antsy about planting them, so maybe I'll get started later today.

thorndncr: Still time in zone 6 ??? Absolutely! It's just about time for things to start popping. Where do you live? I'm in Cincinnati and only alyssum and rose campion have germinated for me. This is my 3rd WSing year, and I expect a lot more sprouts when the weather finally warms. I don't normally see sprouts until the last week of March on, with the exception of very few. Our weather has been much too cold for seeds to sprout. It's only 27 degrees now, more like a normal Christmas than Easter.

Keep the faith. Our time is coming, probably within a couple of weeks or so. Spring has to come soon.

I have lemon grass seeds too but I thought I should wait until the weather warmed up!!! I think I will put them out now and see what happens. Where in missouri do you live?
I've got cornflowers coming up, statice, poppies so far.... despite the snow falling today, it is spring.

Congrats!!! My Roma and Beefsteak toms have sprouted but they don't look so hot. Our weather has been hit or miss (warm/cold) and I think I pulled their tops too early. I got some of Trudi's seeds in the mail last week so they should have a much better chance once they sprout.

All of my herbs, except Rosemary, has sprouted. Even my parsley and lavender. My lavender only has 2-3 sprouts but I consider that an accomplishment. LOL

Thanks for all the congrats! I certainly was excited. I decided to sow several more heirloom tomato varieties I recently got in from Sand Hill Preservation.

Thorndancer: It's certainly not too late in zone 6! It seems things are just beginning to kick into high gear, so you should see some green very soon.

Vera, I was a bit nervous about doing toms, since that last hard April freeze. My little yellow pear sprout made it through freezing temps last night :), so they can take quite a bit. However, if it's projected to get in the teens again like last April, I will bring the tom sprouts inside.

Margie, I live in southern Missouri, so I imagine it's a bit warmer here. Have you had much flooding near you? We're fine, but some in our area had damage, and a few roads are still under water in spots. I was surprised about the lemon grass sprouts ... I guess they are a perennial in some zones. I saved a few seeds back just in case, although it may not have been necessary. We'll see.

Depends on your definition of 'near me'. I live off of I-44 in the 'burbs of St Louis, so 3 exits down the highway was where it flooded I-141 and closed the interstate down to one lane. No one I know had damage due to flooding thank goodness, just travel problems.
I bought the lemon grass seeds before I read up much on lemon grass and there's warnings that the seed is from an inferior type of lemon grass plant and to only buy plants so we shall see what sprouts.....
Since this is my first year WSing, I didn't risk any of my toms... they are all growing in the basement under lights at a balmy 75 degrees. But maybe not next year.....
