I can only speak to the one I grow here, and mildew (as we don't get blackspot here), but I can safely say the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale rose -- a bright orange floribunda -- is quite a wonderful, mildew-free rose.

The only one of the Fairy Tale roses I've grown is 'Caramel Fairy Tale'. I had no disease issues with it at all. That variety is quite beautiful and blooms heavily with fairly rapid repeat. Palatine describes it as scented. If it is, it's only faintly scented, or perhaps its fragrance simply isn't available to my sense of smell.

My problem with 'Caramel Fairy Tale' was its loose, open growth habit. In my garden it seemed to want to be a small climber, producing long, rather lax canes. It certainly wasn't the typical bushy floribunda I was expecting. It might have built up more structure and bushiness given time; if so, it was definitely going to be a VERY tall plant. It was, however, healthy and very BS-resistant for me. It's an impressive rose & I wish I could have accommodated it.

I've had the apricot Floral Fairy Tale for five years and it's been quite healthy.

Caramel Fairy Tale is black spot resistant, but I agree it doesn't have much scent. It's a huge rose bush for me with lots of blooms. I really like it but it should have planted it further from the path.

From what I gather from my perusals on HelpMeFind and elsewhere Kordes roses often (usually?) are disease resistant, but fairly scentless, regardless of the rose class under discussion.

In my experince here with Caramel and Floral FT roses they have better than average resistance, but still get some BS. They keep 50% or more leaves, so it is not that bad. They also get some Cercospora in the fall, like many other Kordes roses, but I don't mind it as much as BS. FFT is quite fragrant and more resistant than Caramel.

Ditto on Caramel Fairy Tale, and I agree with windeaux, it does want to act like a small climber. I haven't had the heart to try to keep it shaped or pegged. I love the bloom coloring.

Floral Fairy Tale had good resistance for me. I mistreated mine, and I think it is gone. I should get another.

I grow Cinderella Fairy Tale and it has been quite disease resistant for me, even during the heavy black spot summer and fall we had. It has beautiful pink clusters of bloom that hold well on the plant and in a vase. Only a light fragrance.

I grow most of the Kordes Fairy Tale roses and have found them to be very healthy here in zone 4/5 New Hampshire. I no longer spray my roses and most moderns will get some blackspot and occasional mildew by mid to late summer here without any prevention. My Kordes Fairy Tale roses show above-average disease resistance here. I grow: Floral Fairy Tale, Elegant Fairy Tale, Lion's Fairy Tale, Caramel Fairy Tale, Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale, Sister's Fairy Tale
and Pomponella Fairy Tale. I also added some of Kordes newer roses and have found them to be wonderful too. Those include Larissa, Zaide, Cream Veranda, Lupo, and Big Fruitilia. None of the above roses are fragrant, but I'm willing to trade scent for healthy roses. Another thing I'm a fan of is how GLOSSY the leaves on these newer Kordes are. Even the leaves are beautiful!

Thanks for all the good information. I don't have any room for a floribunda that fancies itself a climber, so thanks for the heads up on Caramel Fairy Tale. I like the light coloring of Caramel, so I was looking at Lion's Fairy Tale as an alternative. Is it more stereotypical in its growth habit?

Lion's FT is a bushy plant for me here. Definitely NOT a climber. Of course, roses won't get as large here in my cold climate, but this rose is a mannerly and shapely bush for me.

Elegant Fairytale does fancy itself a climber.
