Taxes.... *sigh*

Hee Hee - Kiddo, mailed my tax return yesterday along with first quarter 2009 estimate....

I need to hop into the shower, 'Easter' breakfast 9AM - my inlaws do Easter a week early so we are all free on actual Easter.

We're supposed to get into the 60's for the first time this year and I'm playing outside all afternoon. I want to lay down replacement soaker hoses in a bed where I removed them, do some weeding, fine tuning of beds. Nothing is ready to plant out, but I'll be ready when they are - I think it's going to be a great day!

Just finished uncovering the tender sprouts from the wind & (small) snow storm last night so they can drink up the sun.

Mostly, today I need to move everything around on my balcony and set up some shelving for my lasagna pans & jugs, so they're not just strewn willy nilly & it looks a little nicer. Need to sweep & clean from all the snow & wind we've had. My mom & sister are coming to visit on Thursday, so I want to dress it up a little. Plus, I'm jealous of how neat other people WS setups look! We're supposed to have decent weather again for a few days. I keep looking wistfully at my March pictures when it was 70 degrees and sunny.

I'll also WS a few more annuals and things that haven't sprouted yet (and I think should have) and some things that sprouted early and succombed to cold (i.e., night-scented stock).

Need to fertilize a little, and feed the bulbs. And ongoing project -- TRY to figure out where the WS plants, bareroots & bulbs are going to go -- that is, in which containers and where on my balcony is sun & shade! Finally, need to record my latest sprouts poking their heads up (sage, farewell to spring, painted daisy). Okay, better get to it!

I want to drive to a neighboring town and sign up for
a Mulch rain check. Today is the last day.
The roads my be icy, so I don't know if it is worth
it to drive for a 4 bags for 10$. I hate to pass it
up....... I really, really do.

After 2 days of sustained 30MPH winds and 60MPH gusts, think I will venture outside and pick up the fallen branches and clean up the side proch that was all blown around.
Stuck my nose out briefly to check the temp, not too warm now but I did see the Lychnis seed is the first Ws'd jug sprout
Have to repot maters and go thru the seeds , then start taxes later

The house needs to be cleaned-up. Did the dishes and kitchen clean-up earlier and so far there's two loads of laundry in the making. I've just declared to DH and DD that this Sunday they will NOT be sitting watching TV, Movies and playing games. This IS MY day off too!!

I have 8 containers ready to be sown and will sow throughout the day between vacuuming, sweeping, more laundry, bed making, etc.

It's drizzly outside but I might get a garbage bag and gather the garbage that came to visit this winter on the property. I see some green in the back garden that I have to investigate. :O)

Yep, lots to do and I'm doing it in my PJs! :O)

HEading back to work in about 10 minutes. When I get off at three, I'll make sure all my plants are watered and then down to the basement to finish a project that gets delivered tomorrow. Tuesday though, I will spend the whole day weeding and planting.

OMG! I was just cleaning out closets and low and behold... my old seed stash tucked away! Looks like I might... no way... sow some more?

I'm spending my day r-e-l-a-x-i-n-g! Reading, watching TV, sowing a few more annuals and veggies. Gotta figure out what's for dinner and get it cooked, then do all the Sunday evening things to get ready for work tomorrow. My house is a mess, laundry needs to be done - who's complaining? Not me, and not Gracie - she's sprawled out on the floor in a sunny patch getting a tan!

So far I've cut wood planks for the fence....never ending project. I planted Holihocks, and Poppy's into the yard. Sowed 4 different Basil's, and a few packs of Nasties.
Oh an about the fence....if we don't soon get it finished soon, I'll be planting my WSed babies under the guy's pool next door. Up against the fence is where I wanted to plant.
Ahh to be a home owner.

Finished my web design classes last weekend, so now I have my weekends back again. Celebrated on Sat by doing a runaway weekend-day with DH. Went to Baltimore to see the old trains. Enjoyed it very much and the folks there were very very nice.

Today I have been out in the garden all afternoon except for a short break to rest all those muscles that are going to be so sore tomorrow! Dug around in the mulch and replaced the soaker hose that I accidently sliced with my shovel last fall with shorter lengths of hose that can be more easily replaced if I do the same dumb thing again (!)

Now I am going back outside to try and figure out how to attach the lawnmower bag to the lawnmower (we've never used it, but I want to recycle some old leaves into new mulch) and maybe divide some hardy geranium and bee balm into small pots for a garden club sale in May.

Not done any planting out yet, because most of my seeds have only started sprouting in the last 2 weeks and are not growing very fast. I must be on the cold side of zone 6. Even my lettuce planted in Feb does not have true leaves.

well I got a lot done today. Planted out Dwarf poppy and the rest of CA poppies. Happy to report that the previous poppies planted out are still maintaining their protection against the rabbit.
One of my "fences" is a laundry basket from the dollar store, cut off the bottom. See how that works. Saw my old friend at the garden and another friend who is gardening for the first time here. He arrives holding hands with his girlfriend. Oh to be young and in love!

I uncovered all my containers before I went to the garden, knowing it was going up to 60 degrees. Now I have to scour the weather report to see if I have to cover them tonight.

Well looking back I see I got all done exc. the meeting and writing. What the heck, I got a good many hours outdoors. I needed that.

Very interesting to hear how you'all are spending your day. :)

It has been a nice day and I should have been gardening. But my friend walked in and handed me the new Harlan Coben novel (a Myron Bolitar). I didn't see much of this pretty day with my nose in that book. Couldn't resist.

Well, folks, I did good! After the horribly-frustrating day yesterday, I bought a new pond pump ($279 with a discount), drained the pond, moved the rest of the fish, and did a partial water change on the pond I'm keeping. Plus, mucked that out (is there anything worse?). Moved more toms into the hoophouse, too.

Spent some time on the wild bird children. Put up a new bird house and fed them all well. Watched two mourning doves get it on. Sheesh. Girlfriend went straight to the birdbath afterwards and took a nice soak and fluffed up her stuff. I wanted to tell her she should have done this before, but, heh, maybe she was putting out some avian pheromones or something. Cracked me up!

Days drawing to a close...but couldn't get into the garden...Cold, 43, windy, rainy. SO slept late, Dh and I dropped the Purple Martin House to clean. Need to get that done so kids can help up hoist it back up next Sunday when they visit for Easter. It's too heavy for us two "oldies" to do alone...need more than 2 people. DH and I shopped for Easter stuff for grandkids baskets. Have egg hunt here and dinner. Check my containers and lots of little things, too lazy to write them down to list. No tomatoes yet, though. Just huddled everything together for the lousy week of weather ahead. Maybe will "tarp" them if it gets too cold. Pork chops, creamed corn, baked sweet potato for dinner and applesauce we made last fall. Now, CMA awards and cuddling by a fire. Heaven!
