Maple Tree dying please HELP

So I posted a listing a while back about my Maple tree dying. The suggestion was to get it out of the sun. It is young and I just replanted it. So now it is in the shade but still does not look good. Leaves are burnt and wilting. It is not getting worse but I hope that I have not killed it.

Can I do anything else to help it along like fertilizer etc.

I do not want it to die.

Are you zone 9? Just let it be. Don't over water it. Maples can be replaced.

Water it when the soil is dry; dig down down a few inchesn to see. Mulch it, if you haven't already done so - as widely as possible, no deeper than 4" and no mulch in the 2-3" next to the trunk. Don't fertilize it. If the cambium, the layer just under the bark, is green whenever you scratch lightly at a twig/branch, then the tree is still alive and can recover. Good luck.

My guess is Verticillium Wilt. Research that and see what you think. It is a soil based fungal disease that is common in your (our) area and hits Sugar Maples pretty hard. One tell tale clue is to cut through a section of the dead or dying branch and look for a greenish brown stain or streaking in the sapwood. To be absolutely sure, contact your local extension office and send them whatever sample they would need to run a test to confirm. Where are you located that your tree is in leaf now? And can you post photos of the problem? Are you growing it in a container? If so, how long has it been planted, what type of potting soil, how often do you water? Need more info to even attempt to diagnose a problem.

Kandy, please take this as just an initial shot at attempting to find the cause of your situation: Do be aware-it is possible to overwater plants. Some of the visual cues that this is happening include chlorosis(Yellowing of foliage that is supposed to be green) wilting stems and foliage (I know-sounds wrong, but is true), other off-color effects, and lack of vigor. And yes, all of these symptoms can be caused by numerous other causal agents! Wouldn't you know it! So, it seems like you know what you're about with gardening, etc. Perhaps you can provide additional info for us. Finally, while it is too early for "fall color", some plants each year do seem to show early color change. We don't always necessarily find out the reason(s) for this effect. I agree on the leaf problem. Largely ignore it. Does picture 4 show a number of old wounds on the trunk which are being encapsulated well? Maybe I'm seeing wrong on the old CRT monitor. If so, did you have another tree removed a decade or so ago which exposed this one to more sun? Again if so, there isn't alot to do about it at this point. The tree is going to have them sealed off shortly. If they are mushy inside I might call someone to have a look.
