Graham Thomas reaching for the sky...

I know that Austin has finally admitted that GT is a climbing rose in warm climates, but even then the last height estimate I saw was 6-7 ft. Here is mine, which grows on a support made of copper tubing which is at least 7 ft. high. Every single Fall it does what it is doing in this pic - puts out canes which go UP an additional 5-6 feet. I usually just chop them off (cursing that when I bought it they told me it would only be 3-4 feet, so I did not plant it next to the house or a tree - we had to build the support for it later).

I think that if it was growing next to a large tree or house, I could get it to grow to 15 feet at least. So, I was wondering, has anyone done that? How tall can it get?

Just curious -

Jackie
