it came in the mail today. Munstead Wood is on the cover. There was already a thread here about the new U.S. 2011 introductions (Lady of Shalot, Wedgewood Rose, Susan Williams-Ellis, Tam o'Shatner, Kew Gardens).
On page 84 the catalog says also new for 2011 - OWN ROOTS. All roses from the David Austin nursery in the U.S. are grafted on Dr. Huey. For the first time, ten varieties are available also as own root. The ten varieties are
Carding Mill
Crocus Rose
Crown Princess Margarita
Darcey Bussel
Gentle Hermione
Golden Celebration
Lichfield Angel
Strawberry Hill
Teasing Georgia
William Shakespeare 2000
"...New for 2011 after several seasons of research and evaluation, we are happy to be able to launch a new collection of premium quality own root roses. We offer a choice of ten of our most popular and best performing varieties...
... The ten varieties ... are available as either bare root roses or own root roses, at the price listed in the main section of the catalogue. We will assume that all orders placed are for roses budded onto Dr. Huey, unless otherwise stated, so if you would prefer the own root version, please clearly indicate 'OWN ROOT' when placing your order. Stock is limited, so please tell us whether substitutes are acceptable to you.
Our own root plants are very similar in size to those budded onto Dr. Huey ... They should be regarded as being very much the same in terms of garden performance, although they are of particular value in cold winter areas."
