A rant, not helped by stupid computer eating my first message about this.

Today I found RRD on my Orleans Rose. It was a lovely day, a cat to pet, another cat in waiting, some blooms, clear skies, nice temperatures.

I had been sitting with my legs in the rose bed as I picked off abandoned stems and canes. Low stress. Then I realized that Orleans Rose had two RRD breaks on one cane, each out at a single leaf axil. About three feet from my nose. I just wasn't seeing it. (One had the impudence to have a saturated purple bloom that in other situations would have been lovely,)

The other night I was going through photos and I noticed how many RRD pictures I have from my garden in October. We had seen five roses with RRD at the RedCross Garden over in Asheville Sunday weekago. But I thought "Not me, not this year".

I was wrong, and I wasn't vigilant.

I think there's a chance I've saved the bush. I will go to other canes on it tomorrow and try to propagate replacements over winter.

Just a warning, and I truly hope it isn't needed.
