My First and Last Vintage Order

My first and last Vintage order came today. As much as I am happy to have received such beautiful and promising plants, my heart was a little heavy knowing this would be the last time.

I've forgotten, what roses did you order, Josh? Are they imports?

I ordered Aennchen von Tharau, Reines des Violettes, Raubritter, and William Lobb.

I was not able to order in time for the imports, unfortunately. Are you expecting an order from Vintage?

I have my next to last orders planted in pots and in partial shade - the next order to come will be the very last one - what a sad day that will be! I am planning a very larger parterre bed with birdbath in the middle to house these roses once they get ready to plant in the ground, along with all the others I have ordered the last couple of years. Will call it my Vintage Memorial Garden......it wont compensate for the huge loss of Vintage, but will be a place where I can enjoy them all together.....planning to have a vintage looking garden shed/grandchildren playhouse constructed, a hanging swing......Wish they would find some extras and have just one more release......still cant believe they are closing. Thank you very much Harbor I really love that one, I could easy pick out 3 other ramblers, but I don't think I have the space they need with the ones I already have growing. Even my "short list" of antiques I want for the lower garden I really have to cull some because there are more than I want than I space for with out removing the hedge. It is not that I love the hedge, but truthfully, maybe it is foolish to remove an edible hedge that is probably antique itself that needs no water for roses.

Thank you Ingrid! My only wish is that I could fast forward a couple of years to see what it will all look like. Perhaps you could be convinced to visit this spring when Chambersville Tree Farm and Heritage Rose Garden has its dedication ceremony. It is one of the HRF's gardens and hosts more than 145 roses. Connie will be here, and Ogrose and I were just talking about how great it would be if our California friends came for a visit as well. The roses should be in full swing at that time. Josh

Thanks Denise and themockturtle. Denise - maybe I'm mistaken but there is webbing on the underside of a couple leaves and dozens of microscopic pin holes on the back of some leaves indicating to me that mites were sucking away. I don't know what other critters do that. Wow, that's a full time job taking care of that many plants. And all the ones I've seen are beautiful. You've got the magic touch:-)

Too bad you were late Josh, but you got some great roses in that order. I would say that the majority of the many roses in my garden have come from Vintage since 1999. My last group of roses are 7 import roses.

Josh, there are still many import roses listed on Vintage's website. I just looked today. This one may not be your last order.

Josh, I think you have me and ogrose confused, not that it matters. I'm sure we're kindred spirits.

I'm expecting two roses, but know the name of only one, N92 Nanjing, a tea rose, since my other choice is no longer available, and I haven't received confirmation of what I'm getting. I'll post when they arrive.
