Rogue Valley ROSES goodies

Wooo hoo. My babies are rolling in for my lawn replacement project. I just received these mainly huge bands from RVR. In the picture are.
Nastarana
Distant Drums
Savoy Hotel x2
Golden Buddha
Hoag House Cream
I was supposed to receive Robin Hood as a free rose, but got two Savoys instead. They have great customer service so no doubt they will fix this.
Just wanted to show the huge bands. Distant Drums is a little small. But I'm learning that due to demand most favorites normally arrive little due to growers trying to meet demands.

Also when I was new to rose growing I had no idea what a " band" looked like. Hopefully this will delight and help someone. The huge pink rose is on one of the Savoys. I dont like to disbud neither do I like to pluck off the roses. My bands still thrive.
Nevertheless I digress.

These really are a good size and that flower is huge! The only one of your group that I have is Hoag House Cream and so far it's been a trooper in the heat. I wish you great luck with your bunch. Of course we'll expect pictures later.

The RVRS ARS Rose Show is scheduled for June 6th at the Josephine County Fairgrounds, Grants Pass Oregon. Arts and Crafts Building, 1-4pm. "Wine and Roses" is the theme with three local vineyards sampling and selling their wines. Entries are accepted between 7 and 9:45 a.m. Judging is 10-12. Public welcome from 1 til 4. Erasmus, if your rose is a small own-root I suppose it might not look totally true with the first few blooms. I know some of my little own-roots I got from Cliff a few yrs ago did not bloom true til the plants got bigger. But your bloom doesn't have the ruffled form, and the pointy tips on the petal edges are not typical of BB. Hopefully in the subsequent bloomings if it is BB, it will start looking more like it. I guess it'll just be a waiting game.

I am sitting here, trying to decipher YMMV?!?! Anyway, I might give it a try anyway. BS is a major problem in my garden. I don't spray w/big chem, but have had good results with finely ground cornmeal. Especially if I'm diligent. Dakota Redwing is such an appealing rose; I feel like I have to give it a try. Thanks for your honest input and I look forward to hearing about more of your work! Golden Buddha is the only rose in my garden that I want more than one of the plant. Wonderful, happy rose which delights me @ time I see it.

Thank you for the welcome rockyrose. I've enjoy reading the forum. And, Sheila, I've noticed that you try to bring in perspective on RVR. I have worked for small businesses before, and I understand that it's not personal or malicious/rude. I don't take it personally. However, on the consumer side, the desire for the correct item for the money spent is also a concern of mine. From what I can tell, it's not always a miss...people have gotten correct roses from RVR as well, and incorrect roses occur with every nursery. (The small business I worked for was for an older gentleman as his "retirement" job with collectible stamps -- another area that is rife with potential missing/incorrect stamp identification). What matters is how the company handles such situations -- and only time will tell for my personal experience :) *edit: So I want to apologize for the off-topic posts on this thread to @rockyrose And to also say that I ordered from RVR despite knowing some issues with sending incorrect roses because I wanted to give them/take a chance on them because I know that personal experience varies, people tend to post negative experiences more than positive, and that @Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR has mentioned that there are new workers (i.e. hot Scott, haha :) there recently which hopefully means a different experience. I'll post on a new thread if I have a positive experience with them, but since I requested an October ship date (due to the heat wave/summer heat in general) it may be some time (2022) before I can really tell. And on an aside, I think it's @Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR's full bush shots of Dakota Redwing I've seen on Houzz that has convinced me to want this rose bad enough to take a chance :)

Ooo, nice picks! I saw that the Fall Restock included Hoag House Cream and almost pulled the trigger myself! It looks like it could be a terrific rose. I'm a big fan of Paul Barden's roses, but I haven't tried Golden Buddah yet. Distant Drums is a favorite of both mine and my mom. My mom has several grafted plants that do very well for her. I hope it fares well own-root for you!

I did happen to order a Yolande d'Aragon. It is one of the relatively few HP/Portland roses I've heard should do well in my area and does best splayed/fanned out against a wall which is my intention. I gave myself a little time before deciding upon what has to be shipped along with it, but tentatively a replacement Mme. Berard (Adam). I have yet to fill in the spot formerly occupied by Adam. Whichever between Gloire de Dijon (from High Country) or Mme. Berard performs better will get the spot and the other will go on an arbor at my parents' home. At least that is my current plan, but things always change.
