Good Variety of Lavender for a balcony?
Comments (0)Hello all, Posted this question in "Balconies" but it's pretty dead over there. :-( I have been trying to grow lavender on my west-facing, 2nd floor balcony for 2 years. It grows ok, but never blooms and dies off in the Spring. What could be wrong? I LOVE lavender, so any suggestions are most welcome. My herbs do very well so I am thinking that I am picking the wrong variety or going about it totally wrong. Also, I would love suggestions regarding anything floral that's container/balcony worthy and smells good :-) Thanks....See MoreExmark Quest any good?
Comments (7)The quest is just a rebadge Toro Time cutter Z With a Briggs instead of a Kohler engine and if I remeber right cost a Little bit More than the Toro CounterPart (Toro is the parent company of Exmark). From first hand expirence The Toro's or the Exmarks are not very comfotable to ride on for any length of time. One summer I mowed 10 acres a week for a JD,Bocat&Exmark dealer my younger Brother worked at on a Exmark Lazer Z and my back was killing me all summer because of the ride. But they do have kits for the seat to make it more comfortable but even those were not that great. I would tell your brother to look at a Simplicity Javelin which has ride dampering springs on the front axle and Gives you a Great ride and they are priced from $3,399 to $3,999 avaliable in 38,44 and 50inch mowing decks. Anothe Brand to look at in his price range would also be the Cub Cadet Iseries Zero turn Tractors But for traditional Zero turns I will always say look at Simplicity or Ferris(Simplicity has been the Parent of Ferris for sevral years) just for the smooth ride. Here is a link that might be useful: Javelin...See MoreGood lavender hybrid teas
Comments (44)CHARLES DE GAULLE is indeed a wonderful rose. For me, it was promising, but hardly worth the effort as an own-root plant. I've found it to perform very well, however, on Dr Huey. It's one that I'd really like to try on Fortuniana. LILA VIDRI is another one that I've found to be superior as a grafted plant. I think it's classified as an HT, but in my experience it performs more like a Floribunda, ROYAL AMETHYST is a workhorse rose for me. It had a broad, rather than tall, growth habit, and blooms from the base to the top with good repeat even in my heat. The individual blooms, though, are unremarkable here. This is one that gives lots of color, but, IMO, is best viewed from a distance....See MoreLavender Delights--free to good home
