Well, thank you, Lagomorphmom, I have been searching for Duchesse d'Orleans for ages, and just figured out that's JE Murphy's Pink.

Nope, don't have it, but will shortly now that I know what to look for! I too enjoyed pictures of this rose.

I don't grow this rose either but it is on a wish list because of the beautiful picture on the Vintage site.

I'm surprised that no one has responded to this post yet. When I asked about it and others earlier (when I was trying to decide what to order from Vintage), it was described as "sprawly" from a couple of folks who had young plants. I wish I knew more about its mature size but it seems to me that Vintage lists it as their size 2 for a tea. I decided to go with some others on that order but maybe one day I'll have more garden space and will have room for a sprawler.

Please share progress updates as your roses mature. It is really helpful to hear from people who have seldom grown roses.

Well, I'm glad y'all liked it. Evidently I thought enough of the pics at Vintage and have a sufficiently poor memory that I ordered it four times. Yes, I said four times, I got behind recording my roses. Fortunately I caught it the last time.

It is at the San Jose Heritage garden, anybody know anybody from there that could respond???

I ordered this rose from Vintage in 2007. It's planted in a border of mixed roses along my front fence, in good soil with adequate water. It's okay, but not spectacular.

It is an awkward grower, with canes that jut out at odd angles and are stiff from the get-go. Vintage's line drawing of it on their site perfectly depicts the rose in my garden. I don't know what the eventual size of it will be, but it doesn't seem to have the star power of Msr. Tillier, or Mrs. B R Cant, or Mme. Lombard, which are also big, stiff teas for me.

In damp weather, the flowers get a bit spotty ... my "Reuter's China", another china/tea with a similar habit, does the same thing.

Here's my two cents: if it intrigues you enough, and you have the space to grow it, go along with that little voice in your gut and buy it. I have rarely regretted roses I buy, and have many times regretted the ones I left behind.
