An Update on Secret Garden Musk in the Southeast

This plant was bought from Sequoia as a band last spring, planted in the fall on a re bar obelisk at the back of my garden. It is now 6-7 feet tall with lots of new basals. It has bloomed off and on all summer which surprised me a bit since I was expecting it to need a little time to get established. It has had some black spot but still has plenty of foliage (so far).

The most amazing thing about this rose, other than it's vigor, is the amazing fragrance. You can smell the fragrance if you get within 10 feet of the rose and it draws you over to stick your nose in the blooms. The clusters of single white blooms shine in the garden and draw attention. They glow in the dusk of evening.

I am a fragrance nut and this rose is one of my favorites for fragrance. It may totally defoliate next year, who knows, but so far it's doing well in the heat and humidity here. I love Secret Garden Musk. I think everyone needs one in their garden.
