Well I have seen the first darling little flower on my little plant as it lies shuddering at the feet of the two wooden trellis it is supposed to drown one day. Interesting. I watch with curiosity and that is as far as I've gotten. The start is slow, that's all I know.

I got mine from Roses Unlimited. I had it in it's pot over the season so it didn't grow much, I planted it this year and it has bloomed 2 flushes. The plant is still small, but the flowers are really cute. I can't wait until it builds up some size.

Just thought I would let you know of a source.

Also I think Countryside roses has it in stock and can ship now.... smaller but very healthy plants. Lisa is a great seller.. I have bought from her repeatedly.

So far, mine has one the race to the top of the pergola (9 ft)...each of the roses on the pergola had set backs this spring (Easter freeze and goat escapes). I had a couple flowers earlier in the season, and they were much more delicate in color than I had anticipated...much more like the opening bud of a Safrano. The other roses on the pergola are Jaune Desprez and Celine Forestier. The available post is for Crepuscule when I get one.

I got my Reve from RU also. To be honest, the color was too yellow-ish for me - I moved him from a spot in the front on an arch in front to a spot in back where he can be yellow to his heart's content. His canes are also sort of stiff - had trouble convincing him that the arch was his destiny. He may eventually be replaced...

Once Reve d'Or takes off, she is a vigorous grower. The canes on mine aren't stiff at all and the rose drapes and fountains off of the obelisk it is on in a nice way. Here is a photo of mine. The tall thing at the top of the photo :-) This rose is very clean here which is a miracle.

Reve d'Or is clean for me at the CA coast, too. And it's one of the roses which has been grown in SoCal since the 1800's.

The clone I grew long ago was a virused one, from ROY&T. We had it wound around the electrical pole up by the street, and it was spectacular -- until the cable guys killed it.

The plant we have now came from the Sacramento City Cemetery -- home of the best Reve d'Or I've ever beheld. I LOVE this thing.

Thanks guys. The crimson rose is Rouge Royale. The blooms on this rose are some of the most beautiful and fragrant of any rose in my garden. The bush is prone to blackspot here but it may not have disease problems in California. No matter the disease issues here, I will always have this rose for the blooms alone.

My "Reve d'Or' bleached out to a faded buff-cream in full sun, so I moved it to where it gets 2 hours of filtered shade in the afternoon,its' color is much improved, since the golden peach tones have returned.
If you live near Oakland,Calif, you might visit the "Reve d'Or" grown as a shrub at Morcam Park.
Park on the corner of Olive st. and Oakland ave, and walk down 1 long flight of stairs. "Reve d"Or" is on the left side of the next staircase. There are also dozens of Tea and Noisette cultivars planted alongside the stone wall that is the perimeter of the vintage rose garden. The gardener who worked there years ago, gave me a cutting of the "Reve d'Or" there, and when promptly deadheaded it blooms every month from March through October in my Emeryville garden, plus it is healthier in our microclimate, than our "Mme. Alfred Carriere" and our "Crepescule" which are both badly menaced by mildew.
"Reve d'Or" is a fantastic rose.

I saw this rose at Fullerton Arboretum and it is a beauty. A robust climber with fine branches and leaves and the prettiest display of flowers. I like it much better than Crepuscule. I think the color is nicer. I wish I had a spot to grow it. It should be safe from the deer too, up in the air. I hope we get a wet winter so that they will leave your garden alone.

Jerome, I guess I'm the eternal optimist because when I planted Rêve d'Or, I never imagined how stunning it would be. A rampant, healthy grower in our climate without a single disease problem here. (click to enlarge images)

Kaye that is wonderful. The first picture is like "baby's first walk" in the family album...and then wow, year 4 ...that is one big rose. The spring flush is something else.

Jerome, I like that.."baby's first walk". That was the first spring after a fall planting that was almost disastrous.

Brandy, the pole was 8' above ground. Some of the canes that reached back down to the ground must have been 16-18'.
