So plant in full sun

I'm learning that doesn't actually mean full Texas summer sun now does it? It's my garden's first full summer here. Now don't get me wrong, my Austins fare best out of all the roses I have. Gruss does ok, second best I'd say. Black Bacarra I might as well put in the full 100% all day shade. Just straight up full on shade. No lie. Not a leaf survives on that poor plant in the sun. Of my Austins the ones that fare the worst in the full sun are definitely the Chiantis and I'm pretty sure those were not built for my zone at all. I think they're in severe culture shock. Can't say I really blame them, I'm not all that into country music myself. Poor things look all stringy and nekked but oddly are still alive. We'll see if they make it through August and September here!
