I placed a small order at the Vintage one of a kind sale.

I was just going to look but then they sent me an email with a couple of roses that I've wanted so I placed an order for Madame Pierre Euler and Leonie's Apoline.

The pictures on the Vintage site make them look kind of similar but they look different on HMF.

Anyone have any experience with these two?

Anyone else place an order?

I would love to, but with this weather just can't bring myself to do it! I received 5 roses this spring in 100 Deg weather, everything did great at first, but I ended up losing 2 of them, I think due to overwatering, dummy me!

I'm HOPING this sale will last through Fall, really would like to get a couple more when I'm more comfortable with planting.

I looked at site, couldn't tell what was new and what was there before, perused my favorite classes and the ones that seemed most likely to hold treasures ... and I didn't order a thing. There just wasn't anything that tempted me enough to add more occupants to the pot ghetto.

Anyone have the 'list' of new roses that the email earlier in the week mentioned?

kcclark, Thanks for the suggestion about keeping leaves in the fridge. Actually, I have a huge selection of milkweed within 10 steps of my back or front door. I can get fresh leaves from outside nearly as quickly as I could from the fridge. I raised around 50 cats last year at multiple different ages. All the ones I have now are within a few days of one another, so it should be even simpler. In fact, they might be just about ready to eclose for the first week or so of school. Karen, I really love Renie's Delight, and I ould be delighted to post it for you (it's the only one on your list that I have): I bought a couple at the clump sale too. Lies and Lipstick to augment the one I had, and Johnny Cash to replace one that died....twice. That has never happened before, so I'm going to move the place I plant it this time. Don't feel bad, I wasn't going to buy anything either, and I'm not counting to see how many I wound up with. (It's too soon for one thing.) kay

Hi, Sabbath - I'm so sorry you've experienced this with your relatives and you are absolutely justified in your feelings. All relationship upsets are distressing, but with family it somehow just hurts more, in my opinion. Now, this question has nothing to do with anything and changes nothing, but I'm just curious. Did she actually say to you "I was going to do something extremely nice for you ..." or did she say "I was going to bring you some bicycles for you to use ..."? If the former (which is what I think), yes, she certainly was trying to create some mystique and curiosity. If the latter, she still was out of line and wanting you to say "why not?". Either way, in my opinion she's warped. So sorry for the strained relationship.

I also agree with all the comments above: After the assessor comes to view the damage and give the quote (please be seated during that time-I cringe at the thought of your out of pocket cost for someone's reckless driving.)... and if it does need excavation... then yes dig up the area saving what you can of the hosta clumps, Solomon seal tubers and the other root balls. As Babka, said heel them into a makeshift bed for the winter (no need to be pretty about it for the time being- they can be sorted out in the Spring). https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/info/heeling-in-plants.htm As popmama and windymess said, do this ONLY if it is safe for you to poke around the area. Preserving your health and safety is worth more than preserving a garden. And 100% on Madplanter's idea of a few boulders strategically placed and landscaped into the yard as a buffer (a guard wall even!) to prevent any other drive through's. What a mess to your house and you had recently done some updates, too, ugh! Yet, looking at the big picture I am glad that no one was hurt. It does leave me wondering like everyone else- how does a car plow into a house and just drive away??! There must be some car parts broken off that police can investigate the damage done to your house (not to mention the yard) and find the driver. Accidents happen... and I would be in shock, but I would also be infuriated that the person/vehicle fled the scene. So, I am very sorry this happened to you, but relieved that at least no one at your house was injured.

the bands I've gotten from Vintage this year have been some of the best ever. Got my order in a few minutes after 9, so we shall see...keeping my fingers crossed that I get what I want.

I ordered Leonie's Apoline, Pretty Jessica and Mme. D'Enfert. I already have one plant of Leonie's Apoline and really like it. I got it at the end of March 2010 and it's now about 20 inches tall. I just went out and counted 18 buds on it. It began to bloom very early on and the blooms did very well in the heat. I have a picture of it when it last bloomed on a recent post in the gallery, although the picture doesn't do it justice. I can't remember at all whether it's fragrant or not. I really like its glowing color. Since I put a rich, thick mulch around it it's really started to grow and put out buds. I hope you'll like yours.

This is confusing to me --

How can something be YOUR CHOICE and also SELECTED BY GREGG?

Does Gregg know what I don't already have? I suppose that if I ordered 6 climbers, he might suspect I wouldn't want a rose that grew under 6' tall, but if someone is going to pick something for me, it would be nice if they sent an email to me previous to shipping if "x" and "y" would be wanted, or would I prefer "z", "a", "b", or "c" instead?

Sorry to be so nit-picky, I can't afford to order anything anyway this year, and have to be content with what is on the half/priced, half/dead rack at Lowes because I have a gift card from there that isn't all used up yet.

And my little experience with bands has been less than satisfactory.
