Nice. Now I'm going to go do the same thing...gotta get out my canning jars first. This year I have some gorgeous Pink Poodle echinacia growing along with my other types of cone flowers. I only can wish that lilacs were also blooming.

I particularly love roses in old bottles and jars.
I've got quite a few nice vases, but an old canning jar or milk bottle is the best.

Well, you have inspired me! I'm going to see if I have any roses that aren't JB ruined and make a bouquet tomorrow. I may even have some of the cut-glass type jars in the cabinet from years ago when I was going to make jam (never did). Very, very pretty!

I too like to use my old Ball Jars----empty salt shakers--or whatever I have that holds water.

It is one of my favorites to use.

suzyr, the center one is Echinacea 'Summer Sky.' I love it, but I think I have to move it. It is too yellow for it's location! Planted it last year, it is very vigorous. The pink cone is 'Kate Saul,' which is, ironically, the name of a good friend of mine.

Jeri, while the lady was bagging my jars she told me about a gal who used the old blue canning jars for centerpieces at her wedding reception, filled, of course, with wildflowers. Bet it was gorgeous!

zeffyrose, love your arrangement! I am jealous. I think we are too cold for mock orange.

Green, we CAN grow Mock Orange....at least I did for several years before I dug it out and put in roses.
And I'll bet those blue canning jars are priceless and very, very old....I'd love to see them. I remember the old green ones that my grandma used. I wish I had some just because they were hers.

Florence, you have such a special gift for arranging flowers. Mine always look like I've just plunked them in gracelessly.

I think your arrangement and photography are great. I like the simple "unplanned" arrangement style best because that's the way Mother Nature does it.

Terry, Pink Poodle looks like it is advertised. I'm very happy with it. I picked it up on a whim while at a nursery in STL. It looks like a zinnia.

I too love using mason jars to display and share my roses. My husband usually takes several jars a week of blooms to his office.

Terryjean, I will be planting one, then, as soon as my backyard bed is ready! Or next Spring. The latter, more likely, lol! Priceless, no. A buck-fifty, lol! I should have bought the whole box. I saw the jars in another store for NINE BUCKS apiece, and the only difference was that they were clean. Well. Soap is cheap, my friend. And now they llok just the same! If I am back that way I will pick some up for you and hold them hostage until we can meet face-to-face! :o)

I enjoy using unconventional containers for floral arrangements. I really enjoy making floral arrangements but I usually make them for gifts. I like to use the 'Arizonna Green Tea' bottles that have an Asian appearance for small groups or very tall stems . No one feels obligated to keep the 'container' after the flowers are done.

I haven't picked any roses this year as my perennials are newly planted, and I like to mix the roses with the other flowers. I've been itching to snip, but I haven't. :)
