Most of the same ones listed above, but in case you don't know, Heirloom sends dinky tiny little snips that you have to nurse along before they reach normal planting size. While that is one way to get a rose that can't be found anywhere else, I prefer to order from Roses Unlimited--well-grown rose already in a pot. Second choice is bare root from David Austin's place--but those have to be planted very early in the season--often before I'm really ready to get out in the garden and start digging. The bare root rose, however, is often cheaper than the potted rose. I still prefer the potted one, however.

Northland Rosarium, in eastern Washington...but I'm close enough to pick them up in person. They have beautiful roses, on their own root...and they often bloom the first year. And, they come in a pot! Much easier to plant or leave out and water, if the bed isn't quite ready, yet :)

I bought Lady of Megginch and The Prince from Heirloom in 2010 (tiny bands, but healthy looking). They didn't grow an inch for an entire year, and then suddenly Lady of Megginch put out octopus canes five feet long. (I got rid of her though because she was constantly chloritic and looked terrible. Just was not happy living with me. The Prince is doing very well. He's about 18 inches wide by three and a half feet tall.)

Graham Thomas came from Angel Gardens early this year as a gallon sized plant. He is currently 7 feet tall! Yikes! lol. I also bought bare roots from Angel Gardens of Lady Emma Hamilton and Munstead Wood this Spring. My three LEH are all doing very well, about 18in to 2ft high by a little less wide. Silly girls are putting out a ton of new growth and still flowering. Don't they know it's hot outside? Same for Munstead Wood. I guess they like all the rain we've had lately. MW (I have 2) is about 12 to 18 in tall by 2 ft wide. I'm really happy with all of these. I hope they don't turn into monsters.

Speaking of... William Shakespeare 2000 came as a gallon sized potted plant from Chamblee in Mar 2011. He sat there and did nothing for an entire year also, but now he puts out six foot octopus arms that I've already cut back three times this year. He just finished a BIG flowering and some of the neighbors were asking me "what is that flower?" Yay! I've just cut him back again, so right now his size is about 4ft tall by 4ft wide. (I cut three feet off from all sides!) He's WAY too big for the area that he's in and I will HAVE to move him this winter. I'm thinking about putting him on a trellis since he wants to have such long canes. They don't seem TOO stiff. (Just a note also: I always forget to fertilize the front garden. And it doesn't get much extra water either. WS2000 absolutely doesn't care.)

That's all I've got. I drool over pictures that people post of the other austins, but I'm pretty darn sure that I do not have the space! These suckers get BIG in my area!

I buy all my roses from Vintage Gardens, Chamblees, Antique Rose Emporium, and Heirloom Roses. Chamblees has the largest own-root bands and would be #1 but I'm trying my best to keep Vintage Gardens in business (please-Please-PLEASE don't let them close in 2013). Countryside Roses was my favorite for years but Lisa has been on hiatus for what seems like forever.

I also ordered from Vintage and was most impressed with the service. I received a phone call when they were not certain what I ordered.

I ordered only once so far and its from DA directly. My herigate is very big, almost 7 ft. I didn't trim earlier this spring as it was full of buds. Rest are big too, the only small one i have is the Mollineux.

I used to get mine from Jackson Perkins in the day, now get them from Ontario in Canada - JC Bakker - they have the lowest prices and ship to me for free. DA direct, had bad experience with, both with their customer service - the worst and with the plants being virused or not in stock - taking my money first and telling me just before it was due t ship that they didnt have it. Ive found Harkness and Peter Beales roses from England a lot better than the Austins to perform here and in my price range.

From DA via internet - received big beautiful bareroots in a timely manner in perfect condition.

The 4 Austins I received from Chamblee's as gallons are BIGGEST by far, compared to what I received from Roses Unlimited and High Country Roses. I'm most impressed with Chamblee's rootballs - they were so heavy that it's worth the shipping cost.

I googled "the scoop on David Austin Roses", which shows Dave's garden rating of nurseries. Someone reported receiving 2 bare roots with Rose Rosette Disease from Austin branch in Texas.

I order from Pickering a lot and love their big, healthy bare roots. I prefer fall planting of these, but you have to live in a warmer zone for fall planting. I've also ordered from Roses Unlimited and Chamblees for some and are pleased with the size of their potted roses, though they are not as big as the bareroots. Have had mixed success with roses ordered from DA in Texas.

I am so thankful that I can take a drive and buy large DA in 5g green DA pots, yes they are pricey, but glad I don't have to mail order.

Thanks to Kittymoonbeam alert, I didn't get David Austin's special deal of 4 for $85 - I ordered from Chamblee's instead and got 4 oldies but HUGE PLANTS: Evelyn, Scepter d'Isle, Charles Darwin, and Eglantyne. All 4 are healthy, Evelyn gave me at least 10 blooms as a 2-months old gallon.

I'll take health and performance over a fancied item anytime. Own-root Austins are better since they don't become huge monsters like Grafted.

I ordered Ambridge Rose and Princess Alexandra of Kent from David Austin two years ago. After a good year for Ambridge and a so-so year for PAK last year, Ambridge is now showing the obvious signs of RMV. Fingers crossed for PAK, who is now thriving and appears unaffected, at least so far.

Can't recommend Heirloom. Ordered William Shakespeare from them several years ago; a microscopic cutting not even the size of a self-respecting haricot vert arrived. Needless to say, it did not survive. Always been very happy with purchases from Vintage, Rogue Valley, and Chamblee's, however.

Brittie, how does WS2000 do against BS in Houston? I think we have similar climates. Excited to hear he blooms so well for you.

I question the report of rosette disease in plants arriving from David Austin. Probably the person was thinking of mosaic virus, which is common on grafted roses grown in the western USA. I don't think RRD is known in the growing areas, or it is very rare.
