Any Thoughts On Who She Might Be ?

Hello,
I purchased this unmarked beauty from Lowe's a couple years back,
not only was it beautiful, but you never find an English/Austin type rose in our area unless you shop the nursery.
They had no clue what the rose was.
I called their rose vendor and they stated no rose with that description had been sent to Lowe's.
She has a strong old garden scent with 4 inch open blooms.
Any thoughts?

What a beauty! I have long ago lost the tags off most of my Austin pinks and moved them several times. She does look familiar though. I bought most of mine around 1992 so it might be something available then. I think you lucked out bigtime!

Looks like Sharifa Asma. Especially if its good an incredible perfumey fragrance. How tall is it? Sharifa gets about 4-5 ft.

We finally harvest Emma's favorite Watermelon. It weighed in at a whopping 42 pounds, My son loaded it in my truck and when I got home I could hardly get it out of the truck, so I just sat it in the yard. My GD was right there and guess what................ you guessed it she recognized it!!! I snapped these just so you could continue to enjoy the never ending saga! skatiero, I am so excited by your post! Most definitely you may use the picture!! I looked at your website a while back when you posted it and was so impressed, both by your work and at how great you look. You had been saying you thought you didn't look well and I can't remember whether or not I posted to you at the time, but I'll tell you now that I thought you looked great. And I am always in awe of those who can channel their creativity into such fabulous works as yours. I'm very sorry about your Maltese. It is so hard to lose a pet - you do have to go through a mourning period, I think. We lost our dog, who was 16, last summer and didn't really feel ready for another until now. I married my dh when Luke (the dog) was 9 years old, so this is my first experience with a puppy. What do you think about this new name? DH even agreed to it. Our 5-year-old suddenly came up with the name Cricket, and we really think it fits. I think we could still use Shortcake as an endearment, too. Believe it or not, it even ties into the girls' desire for a Disney princess name, as Cricket is one of Mulan's companions and is supposed to bring her luck :) Cricket/Shortcake now knows how to sit, lie down, and roll over, though that one requires a treat in the hand for prompting. We're still not quite there on housebreaking and I'm not sure what I might be doing wrong (if anything). She doesn't go in her crate, she does go outside when I take her, she tells me sometimes when she needs to go out but she sometimes goes again inside or she will pee outside and then poop inside. Luckily, the floor is hardwood, but I always said I'd never had a pet that pooped in the house. Hopefully, it's a temporary training situation.

The amount of cocaine in her procession was about equal to the amount found in a bottle of Coca-Cola back when cocaine was legal. Cocaine has been around for a long, long time and has only become highly regulated very recently in history. This all just seems like such a waste of police resources to me. The laws need to be more realistic. If she broke the law, she should be treated just like anyone else and not be given special treatment, but I don't think that will happen. For some reason cocaine is viewed as a harmless pastime for the rich and a scourge to society when the arrestee is is not a wealthy Yuppie.

Rhizo, I'm glad you liked it! I didn't use cayenne at all, but I used the full amount of turmeric (yeah, it's a lot) because I want the turmeric benefits. I tried drinking it about 90 minutes before bed last night, and it didn't have much of an effect. I think I'll try drinking it earlier in the evening. Mare, the recipe is at the link I posted in my first message. I made up the spice mix and keep it in a glass jar. Later in the recipe when it says to use "chai tea," they're referring to this spice mix. I made it without cayenne--I don't know if cayenne affects sleep either way, but you might want to start by leaving it out. I'm sorry your sleep problems are bad. That is no fun. I assume you've done all the usual things like eliminating caffeine (even in chocolate), etc. If you Google turmeric sleep or cardamom sleep, you'll find some interesting info on using these spices in conjunction with milk (any kind) to promote sleep. I hope this will help you.

Abraham has a pink grapefruit scent and more color shading on the backs of the petals. IT also tends to nod after a day or two. WOuld you call the scent more strong old rose or pink grapefruit. I would go with Sharifa. And that you have a real winner!

Abraham is my favorite rose in the universe when it first opens but it does not last well at all for me.

I think that is a little too dark and the highlights are too orangey to be Sharifa. I vote for Abe Darby.

I thought about Sharifa at first too, but the coloring is too saturated and warm on your mystery rose.

Abe Darby seems a better guess, as yours looks like mine, (more pink than apricot), because of our cooler zones. This year Abe was very orange for me due to the unusual spring weather we had, but normally it looks like your mystery rose. Even the unopened buds look like AD.

Due to winter die back I do not know what her potential could be.
Each year she does come back with wonderfully scented blooms and that is good enough for me :)

with the 2 blooms she was showing off, I just had to rescue her.

No need to feel guilty if the nursery staff don't know what they have. I once bought three Radio Times for $2, each. The make a spectcular display throughout the spring, summer and fall.
