Life's happy little bonuses.

Hubby and #3 son went to cut wood this week. Around here you can pay for a firewood permit (7.50/cord) that allows you to take downed trees or dead upright ones in the national forest for personal use.

Well, they brought home a truckload of lodgepole pine. Nice! Then they proceeded to cut the poles into firewood lengths. I got home from work and my lawn was covered with sawdust.

At first I was irked. Then I walked out to it and realized this is a wonderful bonus. I get firewood for the winter, and untreated wood shavings/sawdust for my compost. Sweet! I took my heels off and immediately started shoveling the precious stuff off the lawn. I didn't even go in the house and change out of my skirt. You know you are a compost whacko when you stand barefoot in a dress shoveling sawdust because you need browns!
