Sorry to ask this question again...volume of soil for raised bed

I know this formula has been given many times but searching the forum I have come up with zilch.

I'm am building 2 new raised beds, 4"x8" each. I want to add 2 or 3 inches of bulk soil to each. I plan to build interbay mulch on top of that. I have lots of gathered cardboard on hand to smother the lawn, finished and unfinished compost, a bale of straw, will add a sprinkling of blood meal, some grass clippings and UCGs, and leaves when available in a few weeks.

Kimm, puhleeeze don't tell me there's no need to buy soil. I do plan to add lots of OM to these beds but I want the finished product to end up higher than the rest of the yard. I've built enough lasagna and to know that a year from now such additions will shrink level with the existing earth.

So how much soil? to cover two 4'x8'beds with 3 inches of soil?

Thanks for your help. I know this has been asked numerous times on the forum but I can't find it.

Karen
