Anything colder than zone 7 is pushing her limits. She grows in my zone 6 garden but not well enough to keep. If you look through the posts it's almost perfectly aligned that all zone 7's and up love her and zone 6's and down not so much. I do have one tucked against a house (house blocks the winter winds) and it does wonderfully.....heat from the house combined with the blocking of winds probably gives it a zone 7 micro climate.

It has been quite a while since I posted photos here, and I don't quite have the knack of it. This is Spectra, a large flowered climber. Not quite in full glory in this photo. As of July 2011 it looks to be about 5' tall in this photo. This rose has died every where else in town I planted it, within one year. But it will flourish behind my office. One year it died back below the ground and started growing only in early July. This year it had only one little sprout and is about 2" tall only, but it just added a second sprout over the weekend. It will grow to about 8 feet or so when it is doing well. After our brutal winter it will take some recovery time.

kstrong is right. Even in the best soils, repeat blooming roses will need some nitrogen added every year. In poor soils, most nutrients need to be supplied each year as fertilizer. The yards of cane and hundred large flowers that you remove each year contain quite a bit of nutrients that must be replaced if the rose is to continue growing and blooming at that rate. The same is true of any fast-growing plant with limited root-run that gets a lot of pruning. Rose Tone fertilizer is one of many good choices--about a cup every two months for a 3'-4' rose. But fertilizer is not everything. Extreme heat or a shortage of water can also cut into the amount and quality of bloom.

BD and DdB are very different roses in style and growth habit. BD is a modern (1988) shrub rose, and DdB is an old tea rose. From the pictures I saw on HMF, BD makes a rounded, small to medium shrub with almost hybrid tea shaped blooms, which are all the same color and do not vary from a medium pink towards the blue end. Duchesse de Brabant gets MUCH bigger in warm climates - check out the pictures on HMF. Its growth habit is that of an old tea - all over the place until it matures into a rounded, but very large, bush. I have it in my garden and love it. The colors of its blooms vary from medium pink to a paler pink, to sometimes a much darker pink towards the yellow end. The blooms are the old elegant tea style - relaxed and frequently nodding. They are sometimes almost translucent in the sun and incredibly beautiful. So in my opinion they would not look good together. It is just a matter of personal preference which style you like better, but I would pick one and stick to it for the roses nearby. DdB looks great with Mrs. Dudley Cross, another, although smaller, old tea rose which is a light pink/yellow blend. Look up Maggie - the color is almost cerise, it is such a dark and bright pink. It is also an old tea, so it would look fine re growth habit, but I am not sure about the color. If you want to have Belinda's Dream, I would keep it away from the old teas - it is a much more formal shape - perhaps you could tuck it in somewhere where you have some sun and only room for one smaller rose.
