I would move it in late winter when it's still dormant, but after the worst of winter is over, if you're going to move it at all. It is unlikely to be very well settled in by winter if you dig it out now, and will probably die back considerably.

I would also wait until it goes dormant. I agree that it will do much better in more sun. In fact, the more the better. Crepuscule likes the sun.

Don't know how long you've had her, but Crepescule has been very slow growing for me. Be prepared to be patient whether you move her or not.

Since it is better to wait until she goes dormant, you have thise year to see how she does. Then you can decide. Mine gets only about 5 hours of afternoon sun and is doing fine, tho she was a slow starter--perhaps because she had to get tall enough to get enough sun.

I think if it were me, I'd order a second Crepuscule and try it in a different area (i.e., full sun). Crepuscule is a rose that deserves to have multiples of in a yard..if you have the room, which I understand you do.

I would not move a rose now that we're entering summer heat and drought. The shock would likely kill her. I'd wait until fall or early next spring for transplanting.

Carla, yes my family has two acres. One is fenced in, the other isn't and we let it go semi-wild, I call it the pasture. Pretty buttercups, but I've tried to grow some roses outside of the fence and the deer chomped it to the ground. They don't come in the fence so much. So, lol, yes we do have the room, but between the deer and my dad's underlying frustrations with me tearing up his lawn make my situation quite funny. I actually have a pot ghetto now!

So maybe a second Crepusucle might be the answer...see which does better.

I'm in Brooklyn where these are supposedly marginally hardy. I have Crepuscule on an east fence. Our houses are successively down hill, so the neighbor's yard is 2 feet higher than mine. Then there is an 8 foot cyclone fence above that. Crepuscule has been there for a few years. It took about four years to start showing some blooms and I was also told that an eastern facing spot was bad because it would get early morning winter sun that would thaw and freeze the canes.

If I could figure out how to post a pic, I would. It's just fine. Covered with blooms, about six feet in all directions, and getting bigger.

So my advice is to leave it alone. If it gets sufficient sun during the main part of summer, you might be OK. It's a slow-growing plant.
