i was analogizing to the 10 foot size.. not suggesting it is a tree ... anything at 10 feet with what.. 1000 leaves.. is going to have VERY EXTREME stress.. and it would not be good to move it in summer ... not that you cant do it.. its just that it will collapse and look like HECK for weeks so just whack at it.. gal gave you permission ... based on experience ... and then move it in dormancy ... or the slow growth cool time of year .. NOT SUMMER ... its all about total root disturbance.. when the plant really needs the water to deal with summer heat ... one might say that the TIMING is all off .. ken

Welcome emg! Are you new to Colorado or just moved to new digs? We have 8 weeks or less of the growing season left, so if it's veggies your after, you should have time for lettuce and radishes. Without a cold frame or greenhouse, I can't think of much else you'll get a crop of before we see freezing temps. Hopefully Steve and Greg will chime in with some other choices. Maybe spinach and kale? You can plant garlic in a month or so. You can start planting perennials and trees soon, but I think it's still a little warm yet. Barb

Some people here in Rockport planted two of them a few years ago and they have not died, but they aren't growing either. We did some research on them and found out that the coast is a terrible place to try to grow them. They don't like the high winds and high humidity, although they love the sun. They do need lots and lots of sun, and they hate shade. They do not transplant very well. If I were you, I would go ahead and transplant it to an area (be sure to protect the roots) that gets sun all day long and make sure that it is in an area that has well drained soil.

However, search for "pictures" or "pics" in our forum, and see if any of the discussion threads have pictures included! We usually have at least a few.When should I plant...? Can I grow ...? What is this pest / disease / plant? These questions are best directed towards the regional forums or those about that type of plant. The FAQs in those other groups will often have the answers to these questions for you, and if not, gardeners in similar situations are in a better spot to help you out on issues not specific to raised beds and intensive planting.
