Krislu, That is some hose reel! It is probably more than I need though. I just use about 100' of medium duty hose to reach and water my vegetable garden and flower baskets. Masiman, I already have a decorative hose hanger mounted on my fence. It is just in an inconvenient spot. The one you showed is really nice, but I don't think that would work for me. My ground is very soft, I have a shepherd's crook the has the same base and it is always leaning over. I would guess that would do the same. Plus, I usually water early in the morning after I am dressed to head out. I am always getting dirt on my cloths coiling the hose over the hanger. I thought if I just wind the hose up I might be less likely to get my cloths dirty and have to run back in and change.

SO happy to find this thread- I am lugging 150 feet of hose around my back yard and am so tired of it. I have to wrap it around my body and lean into it like I am a draft animal! To add insult to injury my husband has a mental block about winding it up properly so that it doesn't knot up when I am dragging it back out- I swear most of the cursing from my back yard is over his winding up the hose. I am currently using old Lifetime guaranteed hoses that the company has now replaced three times for me- I really got my money's worth, lol. Which leads me to ask about the DAP company and how reliable we think their lifetime guarantee on the Pro series is? I know no one can make my mind up for me, but a total of $90 (hose is $70 plus two 9.95 shipping charges) is a lot of money for me even if I am getting two 75 footers for that price. Plus I need a set for the front yard! Just want to be sure I am not making a mistake and I don't live near enough anywhere to go have a feel for myself.

Ooooh, I hate dealing with the hose!!!! I bought a wind-up one something like 12 years ago that is a small self-contained unit that I can carry (not a big wheeled contraption). I love that thing because it's portable, but have had the leaking problems. DH patched it over the years and it has held up well outside of that. I have never seen another one like this, so I won't toss it. I've tried two different models of flat hoses - waste of money. The cloth models constantly spring leaks because the cloth is easily punctured (especially around thorny rosebushes!), they don't wind up as easily as the ads make you believe, and the plastic model I had had terrible water pressure. I had sprinklers installed at my other house, but when I moved here I didn't want to spend the money because I didn't plan on living here this long - what's that old quote - "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans". Yep.... So I'm still here, dragging the $#!@ hose, and swearing up and down that I am getting sprinklers at my next house if it's the last think I do! Bloody right!!!!

Max, I don't think this is going to help a lot, but I remember reading a lot of very positive reviews on the ReelSmart somewhere on this site last year. About 2 weeks ago, I bought two of their modfel RS100061 (fewer bells and whistles and a LOT less pricey than the model usually stocked by HD), but haven't as yet mounted them. For what it's worth, I have tried relentlessly to contact the manufacturer with regard to a couple of questions that need to be answered before I mount these units, and am finding that apparently Hydo Industries is not in the least bit interested in being helpful. They have not responded to my emails, and the customer service phone number leads to a recorded message telling me I can leave a message---to which there is no response. Since I have already invested in these hose reels, I can only hope they are more user-friendly than their manufacturer.
