Taste preferences are individual. I grow O'Neal and it is not one of my favorites. Yield also can be different from location to location. I have several different varieties. A couple of the newer varieties that I like are Toro and Spartan. Toro has such a tight cluster that it gets mildew in the cluster in some humid areas, though it never has for me. I like a larger berry and prefer higher yielding varieties. Duke, Bluecrop, Blueray and Earliblue are popular for a reason. Darrow has a different flavor that I find interesting.

Yeah, I'm not sure either if a containerized Catalpa will ever flower. Mine never have, though they are only 3-4 years old now (and I believe Catalpa's only flower after many years? Correct me if I'm wrong). However, we know that normally-large trees that are trained as bonsai can eventually flower, so I guess it is possible that a containerized Catalpa may flower also. But, don't take this to mean that you CAN'T grow a Catalpa for many years in a container. One simply needs to adopt some of the principles of bonsai culture to "train" a normally-large tree to grow in a relatively small container. Containerized Catalpa will need regular top AND root pruning to keep it in scale, and keep it healthy.

I live just north of Concord. Last year we moved only a few miles from a little hill surrounded by mostly beech. I think we were the last the get a frost etc while friends in other parts of town in low lying areas get hit at the slightest frost. We are now living in a low lying area. Cold air settles. I'm hoping that my new sunnier location will help buddelia survive. I would be careful about the amount of sun she gets. If she loses it by 2pm, she might also not be getting it as early as she thinks. Due to the trees surrounding my yard at the old house we got down to only 4 hours of sun in most locations. The south foundation got the most but still not much more than 4 hours. Even a lilac was unhappy there but it might have been due to poor soil.

I have 4 returns, MBR, hallway ceiling upstairs, on the stairs on the main floor and in the basement on the wall between the utility room and the living space. The guys quoting said they looked like good locations, as well as the location of the thermostat being good. The wifi thermostat is the carrier infinity thermostat with wifi support. Lets you set it up or adjust remotely, but either way it is the infinity one. I asked about the 95% and they said that based on the cost (1.06 per ccf) that there would be no payoff. Do you think otherwise? The unit cost is about a grand more and requires a more complex install with cost. I am not against it, but the people quoting certainly were. Do you know how I can get some numbers that would help me make the decision? what makes you like #2 more than the amana? Would the carrier be significantly quieter/better? The labor warranty would be much more than the amana from my understanding. (1200 vs 400 for 10yr) Basement tends to be cold by a few degrees in the winter. Load calc will definitely be in hand before I allow anything to be installed.
