what happened to my beautiful adenium

As you can see my adenium is loosing leaves and the blooms look like they don't want to bloom. The soil is dry, however it has been raining everyday for the past 2 weeks and we are expecting more today. The second one day plant now looks like the loom doesn't work then to open. What am I or what have I done wrong g. They both were growing so nicely, the one with yellow Leaves were on their servers on bloom.

Mrainey, you didn't do anything wrong. It is normal at this time of the year for the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. If some buds didn't open maybe because the cool weather.

I hope it gives you many blooms next blooming season.

Once the leaves fall off should I bring it inside. I will be bringing it in once the temperature so reach below 50

Dukiehouser, Looks like the Crown of Thorns is suffering from the Cold snap that was passing by, mine looks the same way right now and does when the temps. drop down like that, what area are you from in Calif.? It should be perfectly fine though from my experience as soon as spring arrives. Wow talk about a room with a view that is nice, I'll have to come over and visit sometime lol... What is happening to the beautiful milkweeds?

I too had a bad year last summer with legions of Japanese beetles, previously very rare here in Vermont. They didn't appear to damage the swamp milkweed but they decimated my marigolds and zinnias. I tried spraying them with raid hornet killer and even that extreme measure did not seem to affect them. These are some tough bugs! All I can glean from past posts about the subject are that people brush them off their flowers into pails of soapy water where they drown. The recommendation is to do this once a day, and apparently it controls the beetles. I'm planning to try this and see how it works. Not sure how successful this would be if your milkweed is growing over very large areas of swampy land....

They do well with minimal water, even while rooting in. From the looks of things in the small image, I suspect excess water.

It looks like you are growing it in a bag sitting directly on the earth. If so, the heavier soils should not be much of an issue, as it is basically a raised bed now, not a container and the wicking effect of the ground will eliminate or drastically reduce any perched water table in the "container". I think possibly over watering could be your problem. Don't Water them again until a good inch or two down is dry... Stick your finger in the soil to about the second knuckle, if it comes out clean, water.

When is a good time to bring them in? Do you know of any other plants like the adenium they give e beautiful blooms and are basically ally easy to care for. I would like to start new plants for gifts for xmas that have beautiful looms like adenium

My seedlings have also been turning yellow with some of these cooler wet days here in Houston. My adult plants are fine. This normal for us here in Houston too.

Jason, yes it is normal....some of my small and mid size plants turn yellow and fall off too.

As long as the caudex firm, you are in good shape.
