Since Mother Nature cancelled my golf game today....

I tripled the size of my composting area/pallet bins. I now have contained space for 54 cubic yards of raw material. It won't be enough. I'll also keep an uncontained pile as well. Also put down 1/2" of cardboard 4'x8' wetted it down, 4" of horse manure, 1/2" of wetted newspaper, and 2 more inches of horse manure for a vegetable bed next spring. I'll be adding more horse manure next week for sure. There are at least 100 cubic yards of the stuff a few hundred yards away that I haul in a wheelbarrow.

I've asked the wife to bring home all the cardboard she can from the daycare kitchen she supervises.

I'll fill the bins, use the resulting compost this fall, and refill the bins with leaves and manure for the spring.

Funny thing, my soil must be very hungry. All of the compost I used this spring seems to be gone. The tomato's, peppers, beans, and cukes look very good though.

Just more rambling on my part, my wife doesn't understand, so I need to tell somebody. :>)
