Two Alister Clark beauties!

Just loving the late Spring blooms on this forum! Winter has almost arrived in Australia and with excellent rains over the past 3 weeks or so it's possible the 10 year drought may be breaking. If my Spring flush in 6 month's time is anything like I see on this forum I'll be "over the moon".

Just had to include a snap of two of my Alister Clark climbers. Alister Clark is Australia's most famous rose breeder. Most of his roses were bred between 1918 and the mid 1940's. Few were released commercially - merely given away to friends.

Many have been lost over time but there seems to be a resurgence of interest in Clark's roses in recent years. He bred his roses for garden use and they are remarkably resilient. This snap shows Cicely Lascelles (1937) and Day Dream (1925). Day Dream is the softer pink. Cicely has a lovely light fruity scent. I just love the informality of Clark's roses.
