Have to warn you, this actually started as a container plant! I had gotten the seeds in a "Round Robin" swap and the gardener was considerate enough to put a warning on it.....best in pots, reseeds like crazy in beds. So I put the WS'd sprouts in a planter (where frankly I put my "least favorites" - - come on - you know what I am talking about. don't we all sort our plants for containers very carefully? Best plants on the front steps, etc. Well this got put in the planter sort of out of the way on the deck. When I saw it grow and that the foliage was so great, I moved some to other containers around the yard. The rest is history. Seeds easily blew out of the containers and rolled into beds. But it has been "in beds" reseeding for about 4 years now and As long as I pull it where I don't want it early in the spring (when I am in there anyway, weeding..) it's great. I kind of think that it depends on the kind of beds you have. My gardens are a mish mash, planted tight, no mulch (cause no ground..) I've got a patchwork of little bits of everything in every bed. It's a tossed salad. I like it, but it is not for the conservative. If you have 4.5 inches between each carefully mulched with dyed black pine bark beds, it's not the plant for you!!!!!

Bucilla "Brown Aran" Lasetta "Jennifer" Lasetta "Petit Fleur" Which patterns would you be interested in? What patterns do you have?

Figuring those drawer boxes will be somewhere around 24" wide and 36" deep, Accuride offers plenty of options in full extension slides with load ratings up to 1,300 lbs. Unfortunately none are white. There may be white ones out there but I'd suspect they're going to be hard to find because most of that kind of stuff is used in kitchens and baths where the depth requirements are far less. In any case, slides that deep are not going to be cheap. A quick look says that Accuride 9301's are $140 per pair! You might want to think about making less than a full depth drawer. Even 28" would be far deeper than a typical dresser and allow you to use more reasonably priced slides (and white ones to boot). As for making the piece, it's going to be a function of your skills. I can tell you that tolerances for slides are pretty tight, about 1/32" per slide, so you need to make sure everything is darn flat and square. Drawer boxes are typically made of plywood and if you're going for something like a natural finish in your picture, Baltic birch would be a good choice.

As a homeowner, I use the General Finishes Milk paint (really it is a water-based acrylic). BUT, since you are willing to have someone else do the work, I would consider other options from pros (finding a good one that specializes in cabinet painting can be tricky). A sprayed-on finish with the proper prep and professional-grade paint, would look so much better than a brushed-on in-home paint application. The paint jobs I have done on furniture and bath cabinets have turned out well, but if I could have afforded it, I would have contracted it out. It will be so much more durable too particularly for a rental.
