How about Sunsprite? It is a deep yellow Floribunda and has won the Gamble Rose Fragrance Award. Very few roses can claim that honor. According to http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.6077.1&tab=1 , it is very disease resistant.

If you're open to the idea, what about a rugosa such as Fru Dagmar Hastrup?

If you're looking for a rose to cut for indoors a rugosa isn't for you (in my experience rugosa rose flowers shatter soon (less than 24 hrs.) after you cut them for the vase), but if you're looking for reliable repeat bloom and strong fragrance in a flowering shrub you won't have to fuss over, then in New England there aren't many roses that are better.

(Actually rugosas hate being sprayed with pesticides. It usually badly burns the leaves. In New England when you leave them alone the leaves usually have no disease problems at all, unless you grow a hybrid rugosa with a lot of some other disease-prone parentage like hybrid tea. They also typically suffer zero winter damage in our zone 6 & zone 5 winters. They are native to northeastern Asia (Japan, Korea, Manchuria, & Siberia), so our climate is pretty much exactly what they're already adapted to. That must be why they grown wild along the New England coast - right in the sand dunes down to the high tide mark.)

You also get the landscape benefits of colorful autumn fruit and foliage with a rugosa.

One warning, Rosa rugosa has very thorny stems, but the prickles are thin and weak so if you wear decent gloves you won't suffer. (However, some of the hybrid rugosas are very thorny with strong prickles, so those roses are NASTY! As far as I'm aware Fru Dagmar Hastrup is pure rugosa, so it won't penalize you for daring to touch it as long as you wear decent gardening gloves.)

The McCartney Rose - pure pink, very fragrant, extremely vigorous and absolutely disease-proof, even in the humid deep South.

Jens Munk is a gorgeous pink rugosa that I'd love to grow if I didn't live in hot inland Southern California. Julia Child did very well for me although our zones are very different.

Prairie Harvest (yellow).

Memorial Day - loves the heat and very good DR for an HT. Old fashioned & heavily petaled...big flowers and long stems with low thorns.

Floribundas are nice, but I only found a few of them to be particularly fragrant. I have Clair Renaissance, sort of inbetween shrub and floribunda. Flowers and growth are very much like a floribunda, but tend to grow a bit taller than the average. Fragrance is very strong, light and fresh, outstanding really, and can compete with any rose on this point. Colour is pink, yellow and apricot tones.

Sophia Renaissance is pure yellow and with lots of fragrance, but not as much as Clair. As mentioned, Sunsprite is good too.

A GOOD bush of Belinda's Dream Will overwhelm anyone who likes pink. I've never seen anything like it.

Where can I get Renaissance roses?

Belinda's Dream is great for Texas, but in the northeast it gets more fungus disease, is of doubtful winter-hardiness, and suffers from rotting flowers in cool wet weather.

I really like Mother of Pearl, which is peachy pink with a pleasant fragrance to my nose. It is very hardy and disease resistant. The cut flowers last longer than any rose I have grown.

If you want super fragrance, the best bet would be The McCartney Rose. Disease resistant pale yellows with some fragrance are Irish Hope and Prairie Sunrise.

I have grown Sunsprite in a no-spray garden for 4 years. I fertilize with compost and, this year, a few worm castings and it does well. Some blackspot and, of course, thrips, but hardy and worthwhile.

There are various races of blackspot that affect different varieties of rose differently. In my garden, Sunsprite was resistant for years and then became very susceptible as the wrong strain of blackspot came along. Sunsprite's not a reliable choice, even though it stays clean in some Eastern gardens. Also, I just noticed that my plant of The McCartney Rose is showing some BS this year.

You mentioned Heaven on Earth--it is resistant for me so far (2-3 years).

Although this pale pink rose is not, particularly, known for it's fragrance, my plantings do have some fragrance.

Not the wafting type, which floats on the air, but a lovely fragrance in the flowers themselves.

And I've never had a hint of Blackspot on them, ... though I have on other roses in the area (Eglantyne, Mary Rose, Bonica, etc.)

Sheila's Perfume is supposed to be disease resistant.
