Homemade pots and a couple succulent plants
Comments (8)Thanks! I'm glad you like them. What you are seeing in both containers is a top dressing, but it isn't that far off from the actual mix I'm using. The Ceraria is grown in pure pumice, with 13-13-13 Nutricote Total added at 1/4 strength to provide macros and micros. The Euphorbia is grown in one part organic compost (fir fines, forest hummus, composted wood/bark) and three parts pumice. The organic component provides all the nutrients in the Euphorbia's case....See MoreI bought my first Adenium
Comments (14)Hi Kirk and Laura, thanks for the input. I decided to pot up today. I bare-rooted the plant and raised it slightly to expose more of the Caudex. Hi Mark, to answer your question, I bought it at a small garden center in Cd. Juarez. Are you familiar with Juarez? I could tell you where it is at. I also saw similar plants at the HD in Juarez, but they were a bit more expensive there. I saw some larger Adenium plants at the Walmart near Airway Blvd. in El Paso in the spring, I have not been back there since May so not sure if they still have them. That Walmart usually carries really nice, large succulents in the Spring, just FYI. Hi Marie and Thank You!...See MoreA Couple Adenium Blooms
Comments (4)Hi Norma They can be grown from cuttings. Cuttings don't usually develop a large caudex like seed grown plants do. Instead they have large wide gnarled roots like this photo I posted a few months ago from Vietnam. The caudex may only be 8-10 inches in diameter, but the roots look to be over 2 feet wide at the soil line. All Adeniums grow a caudex, some species have larger ones than others. randy...See MoreHow should I care for my adenium?
Comments (20)I keep mine in a pot as well, I pretty much leave it outside year round in a really sunny spot. It got an unintentional pruning 2 years ago by a hard freeze and came back from a stump. Now I take mine in during the freezes and have learned to cut off the tips in the spring to encourage branching. I also "pot lifted" a little bit last year, mine has really ugly roots though so I a not sure I did it a favor. :)...See Morejv44
