Patience with Moondance

Last year, I got a bunch of new roses from J&P, as usual with their collections, some are less than "winners." One of them was a lavender hybrid tea called Moonshadow. It grew poorly, flowers (few that it had) blew quickly. I was ready to dig it up this spring, in fact already had plans for what I was going to put in its place. But, it was one of my first to bloom this spring, has been prolific, smells nice, and blooms have lasted well. How many of you find that a rose you thought was a loser the first year turned out to be a winner later on? I think I'm learning patience....
