the most bodacious pink rose ever!
Comments (11)Well, it was just a guess. Looking again at your pics, if that fence is at least 3 feet tall (or more?), I think what you have is a Climber of some sort. Bewitched is a Hybrid Tea (your blooms definitely have the form of a hybrid tea). It can get to 6-8 feet in a good growing season, but yours looks much taller than that. There are many Climbers that have hybrid tea form, and many hybrid teas have a Climber "sport" version....See MoreYour most fragrant long lasting cut roses please!
Comments (20)For anyone who likes research, here is a nice article on fragrant roses as cut flowers: http://horttech.ashspublications.org/content/18/4/734.full Field Performance of Cut Flower Rose Cultivars in Mississippi Crofton Sloan1,2 and Susan S. Harkness1 +Author Affiliations 1Mississippi State University, North Mississippi Research and Extension Center, P.O. Box 1690, Verona, MS, 38879 Next Section Summary Rose (Rosa) cultivars from two breeders, Meilland Star and W. Kordes Söhne, were planted in field beds at Verona, Mississippi, to evaluate cut flower production potential. Seventeen cultivars of an outdoor cut flower series of roses from W. Kordes Söhne and nine cultivars of the Romantica series from Meilland Star were planted in adjacent field beds. The number of stems produced per plant and stem length were measured to assess the field production potential of cut flower stems in Mississippi. Based on 2 years of assessment, the best performing W. Kordes Söhne roses were ‘Fantasia Mondiale’, ‘Masquerade’, and ‘Pinguin’, averaging three to 12 stems/plant per month that were at least 30 cm long, and the best Meilland Star cultivars for outdoor cut flower production were ‘Frederic Mistral’, ‘Michelangelo’, ‘The McCartney Rose’, and ‘Traviata’, averaging three to 20 stems/plant per month that were at least 30 cm long. These cultivars performed well during the heat of the Mississippi summer....See MorePlease Show Your "Most" Beautiful Rose (s)
Comments (269)Carol, Eglantyne is sooo ruffly and a great bloomer! Eglanryne will probably bloom all summer for you same as me because we dont get as hot as Diane’s summers. Diane’s Evelyn is a beauty! Can’t wait to see Evelyn in my garden! You will love them both!!!. i am sure you can find some Austin supplier, hopefully from Phoenix P. Rain water does do well on roses! They love that soft ”no chenicals,” water. Maybe you need a water softener on your hose? Is your water usually ”hard?” D Austins are supposed to bloom more than most rosess-they are shrub roses w/ abundant blooms. I have DAs: PAoK, Anne Bolyne, Desdemona, Harlow Carr, Munstead W., Eglantyne, Abe, Princess Anne, Lich. Angel, B Cadfael, Mary Rose, Heritage, Strawberry Hill, James Galway, & Mayflower and they all bloom constantly. Mary Rose blooms the most, but a few are too new to show their stuff much, yet. I ordered Evelyn, Emily Bronte, Eutacia Vye, Roald Dahl, Silas Marner, Queen of Sweden-we will see how they perform. Carol, Could Straw ship Austin roses to you? I suppose you both wouod deal with shipping fliwers border certification....See MoreMost Beautiful Day Ever
Comments (12)Thank you all.. in reverse order: .Maryl, I will start with you...I am always happier working in the garden than most anywhere. I do actually get pleasure from weeding because it leaves everything looking right. Mantis, That is Long Legged Lap Dancer...silly name, but nice tall plant and quite attractive; it is doing well for it's second year and that is Mean Green to the right of it. Thank you Lori...the main work is in fall when I mulch everything...I do have to watch even in winter because some of the stinking weeds don't die. .. Thank you Julia...it did impact the foliage, and it hasn't totally recovered but the blooms weren't bothered. Brad, It was really surreal because there was so much blooming today. I didn't show Compassion, but that rose had a couple of huge clumps of buds and blooms...to be honest, I actually prefer the way it usually blooms...singles and small clusters, but it looked impressive..but it was so fun...even my spouse who used to tell me daylilies looked like Johnson grass has changed...He actually takes photos and shows them off too...now that is fun.. Kate, surely this is the best day. I had several FFEs that I didn't even post today...talk about exciting! Nancy, I like purples and pinks too...Jelly should bloom for you. Nancy, those are two of my favorites too. Thanks you Debra. I have loved RFK since I got her...and the groups always please me, but this was aneat geoup which was great kay...See Moreratdogheads z5b NH
