Controller gone bad? Hunter Pro-C

About a month ago the bypass light started blinking red. Didn't matter if it was on bypass or not. Other than that it worked fine. Except for the bypass feature.

About a week ago I set the controller in the "off" position on the panel. Yesterday morning at 5:30 a.m., it came on. As if it was in the "on" position. Luckily we have a power switch that controls just that, and I was able to turn it off that way.

The controller is just over 2 years old. So it isn't under warranty. I don't know a lot about these. Any suggestions on what could be wrong or, how to troubleshoot this thing?

Ask the manufacturer on their web site. their good at answering questions specific to their products. Aloha

I would try to reset the controller. This is listed in the manual as to how to do it, you need a tiny point like a pencil eraser end to press down on the little button inside the box, follow the instructions, I also had to simultaneously press a button on the front of the controller to "reset". Mine did reset, my problem was that I only showed two zones on the controller and I had three zones installed. This error occurred after the installer brought a new rain clik and receiver and installed those but did not check to be sure I still had three zones. I got them all back by doing a reset. Good luck.

ff, You didn't mention if this is a new controller, installed by you or a contractor. Hunter does try to help you with your problems. Let us know what you find out. The inside panel will pop out from the case. Unplug the wire connector and push the pins and it will pop right out. Hunter is pretty good about their warranty if its anywhere around 1 year old. If you don't have the instruction manual, go to thier website.

I have a Pro-C. Not having any icon show above Friday is definitely strange. I'd reset the timer first since a reset is like drinking alcohol if you have a relationship problem - tends to solve everything :) Write down your programming before you reset it though it sounds like your program objective is very simple. I can't recall the reset procedure but it's in the manual. Your alternative is to have the program run every 7 days which is done separately from those water droplet things, initially setting up the program on a Friday. But I've always found that approach tricky (i.e. will it first start watering on the next Friday or the next Saturday).

Check the ohms and if you have around 14 ohms then they are split and the wires are some how touching. If you check the controller set the meter to volts and check for 24 volts if you have zone 1 on and 7 comes on then check it to and you should not get any volts. The take it back they have a 3 year warenty. Here is a link that might be useful: check wires

I agree on the reset. But, suggest you write down all your program information first.

I wished I had thought of that before I killed the power to the controller. I was on my way to work and didn't think of it.

I'm going to try the reset. And if that doesn't work I'm going to try contacting someone on Hunter's website, as someone suggested. Thanks.
