Hi, Welcome to Garden Junk. First of all, you'll get no help here till we see a picture of that ugly shed, and know exactly where that salvage joint is, LOL. There are lots of cute shed ideas on Google Images and here on GJ. Many of them are cute enough for playhouses. The link below is from this forum. Alkyd (oil base, industrial) paints are the best for painting metal. They take almost a full day to dry, but are very tough. It's what farm equipment and fire hydrants are painted with. If you know anyone who paints with industrial paint, they may be willing to donate some. HD and Lowes carry them, and if you have a Habitat Restore nearby, they usually have some. Check in the mis-mixed paints in any paint dept. The prices run about 10% of the normal price, about $1 a quart, and between $3 to $5 per gallon. Habitat or your salvage store may have cute wooden trim for the roof, window boxes, etc. They don't have to match one another. You can paint them with exterior primer and latex paints, also from the mis-mix section. Old windows are usually cheap or free. You could install a couple of windows, vents or screens for ventilation, then hang some with window boxes right on the sides. A porch could be added to the front or side. A facing could be added to it to hide any rust near the bottom. a fake chimney or weather vane would be cute. Be careful how much weight is attached to the shed. If necessary, the inside could be framed cheaply to support more weight. And remember, Every day is trash day somewhere!! Hope this helps. Great! Thanks for your patience in reading all that detail. Thanks for your responses. Further: I will run a full size (4 AWG) NEUTRAL. What size GROUND should I run in the house to shed panel conduit... a green insulated 6 AWG stranded copper maybe? I will use a 70 AMP breaker in my house panel. Another person gave the same recommendation. Should I make the associated step-down for the main breaker in the shed panel from 100 AMPs to 70 AMPs or leave that as described? Regarding "install a ground system (2 rods typically)": My house was built in 2005 with one 8' ground rod wired into the main house panel by the electrician. Electric co-op employees stood on that single bar when they connected my meter to the power pole. Is the "2 rod" ground system new since 2005 or did everyone involved in energizing my house leave me with something that is dangerous, illegal, bad? Thanks again.
