Sweet.... What happens after a spring dumping of snow??? In Denver it hit 70d today but March and April are long. Does Kansas get any spillover from our sping snowfalls, or do we get it all??? After the lame amount of snow we have gotten this year I hope we get it all!!!!!

Modestgoddess tipped us off that RU has Bliss (thank you!) & I'm already in the habit of emailing Pat about any rose of interest, listed or not. Emailed last week to ask if she's still shipping & she said yes, since her weather's been a bit cooler than usual lately, so she'll be shipping Monday. Like you, Lilyfinch, looking for a few more before the shipping season shuts down due to heat. Also have my eye on a couple in Heirloom's current sale - their long shipping time (7-8 days door to door) doesn't irk me as much as their stripping the foliage does, still undecided. Hi everyone. It really is so nice to meet some more aussies here! I tend to frequent all the forums as I like reading and I love plants. I also post when I think I can help someone. Merrylpateman, thanks for your reply! I've been to Geraldton many years ago so have probably driven past Dongara. I looked up where it is on google maps. It is a nice area of Australia! No, I don't do anything to protect my DR's from rain. They don't look as good as the ones I see on this forum though, so Rachel I won't be posting any photos as there are also no flowers on mine at the moment. Greenclaws, I hope you have a lovely holiday in Oz! Peter, I had a look at the rare imports website, Just for a browse. Not that I am in W.A. though. Thanks for that, I found it interesting as I love looking at plants. Well everyone, happy gardening and take care.

writersblock, the peppers in the bottom two right hand flats are the ajvarski, they're doing well now, we'll see how they continue. Last year none of my peppers grew well, although they sprouted they seemed stunted. This year peppers are growing like crazy, and I don't know what the difference is, other than the seeds. sleevendog, you're ahead of me, in both size and volume, LOL. I've given up on sweet potates, I get a zillion, all about as big around as my finger, no matter which variety I try. I went for the white Nancy Hall, then Georgia Jet, Beauregard, Agmss, now I have to go look up Piracicaba! I'm hopeful for the aspabroc, this will be my first year. I'd love to shop Fedco seeds, and Elery would like to take a trip to Maine, maybe I should map that in, along with King Arthur, the U of Vermont Morgan Horse Farm and the LLBean outlet! KatieC, I order Lancelot leeks from Dixondale every year, but last year I got them from Jung's as I was too late. The Dixondale is more expensive, but had bigger starts, although the Jung's starts did fine too. So you probably still have time, mine won't even go in the ground for at least another month. We just got an inch of hail about an hour ago, so I'm glad most of my garden is still dormant. The only thing even peeking through is garlic and rhubarb, and they are tough, they can take it. Annie

Beautiful photos, Lisa! I am celebrating Mel's comeback and sending sympathy for your garden frustrations. (Insert Munch's The Scream.) Our roses are like children exposed to the perils of the world. I hover a lot. Helicopter parent of horticulture. I would dearly love to find a spot for this Barden beauty. After reading your story and Jeri's, I feel I need it even more. I like survivors! I have 3 ramblers on my possibilities list, Ghislaine, Pink Ghislaine and Mel's Heritage. Mel is at the top. But where to put him? Maybe I can start a roof garden. Ha, ha. Carol

No, not witchhazel, I took that picture in Williamsburg, VA a day ago of red/swamp maple in a park, actually in a swampy area. Nonetheless, spring is on the way! Long way from home.

I will make you feel better. I'm in Northwest Arkansas, not far from the Missouri border. We have crocus in flower, daffodils are up and the first are beginning to flower. Hyacinths are coming up, Tulips are coming up, Red Maple flower buds are swelling nicely. Our Prairie Fire Crab is awake, and pushing quick. Other Rosaceae, are budding as well. I think our Acer triflorum is beginning to stir. Plus I found germinating acorns on Sunday. All this after a colder than normal winter (and the lowest temps I have ever seen), until Mid-Feb, then BANG. Warm most all the time, and the plants are responding. Hope it doesn't all get frozen. Spring is closer to you than you realized.

We're getting more sun than we were, so that's encouraging. I have my cold temp veg seeds ready and I'm waiting.I have a red oak to move, some groundcovers to divide etc. I envy the southerners who have less time to wait.

Hortster small slap on wrist for deceptive posting :). I could post spent daffodils from the UK for the end of Feb!!! However, I know a lot of places in the US are a long way from spring. In Colorado we are lucky we can have late spring days from Jan-April (we have multiple 70-75 deg days this year)!! If we are lucky water wise we should/could have 2ft of wet snow on April 30th.

Being close to CO I will forgive you for being a Libra and judging me!:) Our spring has been up and down, wet and dry, 95Ã¯Â¿Â½ difference within a week from -17Ã¯Â¿Â½ to 78Ã¯Â¿Â½. My crocus is blooming and the daffodils are arisen. Spring cometh!
