Prime candidates for Bonsai next spring! I can't wait.
Comments (10)Aw! Thanks Josh, Jodi, and Laura! Boy has it been crazy around here lately. Laura: Thank you thank you! I have told Mom about you all and it made here smile. She is still so sick that she wants to pass out when she stands. I am a bit concerned. I hope she gets better sooner than later. Jodi: My bulbs are still in their pots stuck in the corner of my basement away from light and dry until I give them a small bit of water. I will treat them like I do my plumerias. I hope yours fare well:) Snow, please...We have been very fortunate around these parts with highs in teh 50's and 60's most of last month into this week. Yesterday it was 67 here and humid. Quite strange actually! I too have been getting ready for winter, well, it seems that we are never ready for winter. I could find something to do everyday until the first snow fall or before it's too cold to rake. By the way, where the heck do the leaves come from every time I rake them away even though the trees are bare? My pond is covered, my greenhouse is covered with a 'Solar Tarp' which makes a huge difference, the plants are stored away, yard raked, weeds pulled, shrubs berlapped, and trees covered. Josh: I appreciate your support along with Al's and I will keep everyone up to date about these babies. By the way, that beautiful tree you gave me is now bare and in the cold shed. I will take a pic this week. Jodi: By the way, Geraniums are my next craze. I have several of them growing in the greenhouse at this moment. I love them all. The fancy ones of course. Thanks all. As I speak, the temp has dropped 10 degrees and it's pouring out, turn to snow by the am. I hope the cold snap is brief. Take care all and to Al, a good night:-) Mike...See MoreI Can't Wait Til Spring!
Comments (2)I love foxglove and columbine too, but I suggest you get some more annual seed for the "bloom" rush just in case those perennials decide to wait a year to put on a show. I did dahlias from seed last year and loved them. Cleome is always a nice choice. Zinnias come in SO many colors and sizes - - consider some from the profusion series for low constant color and maybe some taller ones for cutting? I also love tallish argeratum for a nice long bloom period. Love your drawings! Nancy...See MoreAm I the only one that can't wait for it to start??
Comments (29)Yes 200 containers was a lot to start (addicting) with but I might top that this year lol I still have some trading left in me to do and then I go outside...."well i might as well try some native flowers there to add some color" or "well there's a space to put something else". I also told myself "no more weeding hills" but here I was weeding the one hill to try and stick some Oxeye daisies and Joe Pye Weed on. Last year was planning to take over the hills/gardens from the weeds and revitalize them with new seedlings and plants. This year it is about filling in, rearranging, making a few veggie raised beds, and..just more flowers. Plus theirs friends and family to give too! Many seedlings are spread throughout the hills and gardens(I can't wait to see the potential of them next year) but I also did lose some of them because I wasn't quite sure of growing conditions or I was hopeful that delphiniums would survive on hills with weeds...but lesson learned in a big way!!! sandyslopes, I have not attempted foxglove because I've been afraid honestly. I read an article once floating on the internet with several accounts from "real" people about allergic reactions and bad experiences. have you experienced anything harmful about the plant while you've worked with it? I love the blooms....especially Alba ~Michael P.S. I would also love to know the name of that yarrow in the pic!!! (?) I also WSed white yarrow which I cant wait to see bloom! It is one of my favorites!...See MoreWANTED: Can't wait til spring to trade ~ anyone interested?
Comments (10)Tim, I defiantly would like to line up a trade for later this spring. We have had several 65-70 degree days, so I at least have winter bloomers, camellia in full swing, hellebores and hundreds of spring bulbs. We have many of the same hostas, but I think we should be able to come up with 6-7 equal plants to trade. Some of mine are quite large. I write a gardening article so I like to make trades that I can share with my viewers. I will review your list and send a request and please do the same with my list. I can also add some plants that do well with hostas as I have woodland garden perennials that seed well in the compost I make. I sent a week at Killington in October, a condo overlooking the mountainÂ.just gorgeous in its fall colors. Look forward to hearing from you, Linda...See MoreBenT (NorCal 9B Sunset 14)
