White clay - does color matter?

In somes areas of my yard I have a lot of white clay (maybe in layers mixed with sand) down in the native soil. Also, have a lot of limestone. Native PH runs a tad above neutral. I'm growing old garden roses which don't mind that PH, and I'm told they like clay and will grow even bigger in it.

My question is this: is all clay the same? I suspect not. Red clay must have different minerals in it. So is white clay a positive or negative in my garden. I've previously been taking most of it out, but I'm working on my last rose spot in the front yard, and there's a lot of it. If it would be good for my rose, I'll leave it (broken up into chunks smaller than my fist.) I also amend new beds with 50% horse manure compost to try to mitigate the nematodes in this Florida sand.

Thanks for your help on this.
