Tree for a small yard

Hi all,

I would like to plant a tree in my back yard. There are currently no trees in my back yard. The depth of the back yard is about 24 feet...really shallow. It gets full sun. It faces west.

Any ideas ofor fast growing smaller trees...about the size of a bradford pear or smaller. (I have one bradford pear growing well in my front yard) I've heard a cherry tree could be an option, a dogwood (I've heard differing opinions that these are fast growers, some say they are slow). I'm open to any other tree suggestions too.

PS. I have already had the water lines/gas lines etc marked so I know where to dig.

Thanks so much for any advice!
