This thread keeps being resurrected. I assume that these guys have customers of some sort or another since they are still in business and I further assume that you are similar to the typical customer. Which is to say: you are using this injector in in-ground soil with a dry granular fertilizer similar to miracle gro. Ok, fine. You set it up and it appears to be working for you. But have you checked? Do you have a high quality EC meter with which you can monitor the concentration of the fertilizer that is being applied to your plants? I have one and I've checked (something they say on the website we could do but they hope that we'll "trust them"). The unit does not function as advertised even using the typical dry granular fertilizer. And yet you are still happy with it. Why? Because you see plants that are in your view doing fine and you see the fertilizer being used eventually. The fact that there is unevenness in application is not apparent to you from the plant (because you don't have consistent applications to compare it to) nor from testing of the output from the unit. But it *is* to me and it *should* be to you. The fact that you're almost certainly using mineral soil will mitigate some of the downsides of the unit - but you'd still be much better off with a steady application of a known quantity of fertilizer. Plant vigor would increase and you would have better control over the timing of concentration at certain times of the year. Anyone who will be happy with the fact that this unit will take fertilizer and in some way or another put it on your plants at some dosage or another will be happy with the unit! *That is not what they say it will do.* To answer some of your questions: No, they did not offer me a refund. For that I would have had to send it back to the company from which I purchased it - at my expense. The acid has nothing to do with anything. I also tested this unit with straight liquid fertilizer (with which they claim the unit will function as advertised - it doesn't) - and I had the same result. I was attempting to use it with acids at first, but when that didn't work I did further testing and found the unit doesn't function as advertised in *any* scenario that I tested. Here's the thing: if this unit does not apply fertilizer in a consistent concentration (and it emphatically does *not* do that) - then what is the POINT of the unit? Anyone who wants fluctuating concentrations of fertilizer should just be applying a dry granular product directly to the soil. And - most importantly - using the correct dry products directly in the soil one could almost certainly achieve more even concentration of available fertilizer than with this unit! Get yourself some sulfur coated urea or polymer coated urea products (or equivalent) and your plants would be better off, you will likely have saved money on the fertilizer itself, and you will not have had to purchase this sham of a product. Or if you want more control then spring for a quality fertilizer injector that does the job a fertilizer injector is supposed to do: provide consistent concentration of fertilizer for maximum plant vigor and control. There are quite a few companies which make products that work. Some are even in the same price range as this piece of junk (venturi injectors) though they still have the downsides discussed in earlier posts.

I think feeding it on every watering is fine--as long as you make sure to dilute the plant food concentration appropriately. Since the plant food is normally only given once every 7-14 days, make sure to dilute it in the feeder down to only 10-15% of its normal strength if you plan on applying it for each feeding. For example, my own plant food that I use says to give 1 tablespoon per gallon every 7-14 days. Since I like to water each day and spread out the plant food evenly, I give 1 tablespoon for every 7 to 14 gallons of water, but water my plants with it daily. I'm sure with a little scribbling on a notepad and a cheap calculator, you can figure out the right ratio to give for your watering rate. It's actually been said that this method is even better for the plant, since it avoids those "feast or famine" periods between giving it good dose of plant food one day followed by nothing but normal water for the next 7-14 days. Also, if you are looking for a fertilizer injector, be sure to check that you are able to acheive the minimum volume of water needed to activate the injector. Most "water pressure operated" fertilizer injectors that I have seen need a minimum of 30 gallons per hour (1/2 gal/minute) of water flowing through it in order to inject the accurate ratio of plant food into the outgoing water stream. Any less than that and it may likely just sit there spitting out plain "unfertilized" water. You might not have enough plants and enough water flow to be able to use a fertilizer injector properly. Since you mentioned that your drippers were 1/2 gph drippers, then I would figure that you would need at least 60 drippers going simultaneously in order to meet the 30 gph minimum. Just my humble opinion...

Thanks Mike Gleason!!! I don't know how I missed this thread for so long. I am an avid supporter of the EZ-Flo fertilizing method hooked up to my drip irrigation system that I made from parts from Drip Works. I have a basic fertilizing mix that is lovingly named "John's Jungle Juice" by my sister who also uses and swears by it.I mix it up by the gallon and use it in the EZ-Flo container. I hook up a hose to the faucet outside and then hook up a backflow preventer valve to the end of that hose. Then I attach a short hose to the backflow valve and hook the other end of that small hose to an in-line filter. This filter prevents large particles from clogging up the system and shrubblers to each plant. I then hook the small hose end from the filter to the drip irrigation system for each bed. Then I just turn on the water and let it run. It's really quite simple to do once you have done it a time or two to get the hang of it. Also, the DripWorks pieces are very reasonably priced and they are delivered very quickly when you order them. I generally fertilize about 25 roses at a time. It is such a time and labor saver that I can't believe more people don't use it. I always have lots of visitors to my roses and when I show them the EZ-FLO/DRIP IRRIGATION system I use they think it is wonderful and many people build a system of their own similar to mine if they have enough plants to warrant it. OF course, you can use it for other plants besides roses just as well. You can also use it for fertilizing or watering container grown plants as well if you just get the right equimpment from Drip Works. The folks at Drip Works will work with you to make up a system for your particular needs. I started with their basic Rose Irrigation system and went on from there. My basic "Jungle Juice" recipe is as follows: To a GALLON of water I add these supplements according to the manufacturers suggested amounts per gallon doubled or tripled as I see fit. You use your own judgement for how concentrated you want the mixture. Be sure to mix this well so that all the granular supplements are dissolved completely. Response Fish Emulsion Epsom Salts Superthrive Liquid Iron Miracle-Gro granular Any High Acid granular supplement/fertilizer I can find on sale at the local nursery or big box store. They usually say for "Acid Loving Plants", and that is the key. I do experiment with other additives from time to time to see if it improves the "juice". This year, at different times, I am going to add a seaweed based fert and Monty's Joy Juice to see if there is any improvement noted. I have tried a couple of others in the past but didn't notice any improvement so I quit using them. I have never had this mixture burn or harm my roses in any way so far. I generally let the EZ-FLO run for approximately two hours per bed and that seems to do the trick. That usually uses up all of the "Jungle Juice" in the EZ-FLO container. You can tell by the change of color of the liquid in the container. My roses love this stuff and I can proudly and honestly say that this fertilizing makes my roses much healthier to the point that I only have to spray for BS and PM about every 6 weeks. I have even been able to go every eight weeks many times and still not see any fungal infections. I think it is all due to the roses being as healthy as they possibly can be. I don't winter protect my roses either, and I see very little damage, and I think that is because I make sure my roses go into winter as healthy as possible. In the long run I think this saves me money and labor besides giving me very healthy and beautiful roses. Both the blooms and the foliage benefit from my fertilizing system. You're not getting much traction on this one Travis. My only comment is that you consider compost instead of chemical fertilizer. For your container plants vermicompost would be ideal. I have been using this setup for 10 years and my plants just love the fertilizer. Here's a link: Worm Factory 360 The bin needs to reside indoors as the vermicomposting worms, red wigglers, are very temperature sensitive. From previous comments you have made I'm guessing your wife may not like the idea of a worm bin in the spare bedroom (if you even have one). There is a vermicomposting group on houzz. There is "Soil, Compost and Mulch" and also "Vermicomposting". These are not fishing worms, the red wigglers are specifically for composting. For your in-ground garden, regular compost from kitchen scraps is the way to go. I have two bins. One bin needs to be 'resting', while the other bin is 'working'. That gray bin with all the holes is a garbage tub with the bottom removed. It was my first bin. To 'turn' it you lift the bin, reposition it and shovel the compost back in. Rather labor intensive. The one on the left is my preferred bin as the lid slides and you only need one hand. The other one, on the right is a hassle because it takes two hands to open it. Since I no longer have any gardens, I have excess compost. Anyone reading this that would like to take some compost off my hands, I can leave a bag by the curb for you to pick up. It's difficult for me to stop composting because I cannot bring myself to throw away all the kitchen scraps I accumulate. I need therapy I think. :-} I'm near 43rd Ave and Peoria. HTH Travis.
