Do Lanscape companies buy different trees than homeowners?

I am curious why trees purchased via a Landscaping company cost so much more than from the nursery.

My wife and I recently talked to a landscape designer to get a rough plan for how to work with our yard. We plan to do the work, we just needed a general plan to get us started.

He suggested that we put in about 10 fruit trees (apples and plums), one larger tree (Yellowwood), one purely decorative tree (Serviceberry), and about 3 Japanese Maples (alternately Northstar Cherrys). He also told us that we could use him to buy the trees which he would hand pick from the nursery. He said that he has a deal with the nursery so he gets them cheaper than I could so with his markup they would come in close to the retail cost at around $200/tree.

Just to understand everything, we went to a few nurseries and found that the trees he listed are not anywhere near $200 (closer to $50-$100). Does he have access to different trees than I would?
