In my opinion as a non-organic gardener though, I see nothing wrong with it. I do it all the time. It helps me reuse spent potting soil. It may be more moisture retentive than potting mix but why is that a bad thing? Besides, compost is always recommended for clay soils to loosen them up and improve drainage. Where I grew up, we didn't have the luxury of potting soils. We filled containers with heavy clay from the ground and we grew in it. Obviously, that is not recommended for various reasons but I don't buy the words 'never' or 'impossible'. There's many ways to skin a cucumber... I go an buy cheap tea take the bags apart dump the tea in my worm bins refill the bags with aged vermicpost one bag makes about 2-1/2 gallons. well that's how big my watering can is I do not boil the water or use a fish pump to mix the vermicpost I just drop it in the can an let the sun do the work add a little stirring with a stick and about 5 min i have vermicpost tea. I'm still working on getting the right amount of vermicpost in the tea bag ( Oh Ya the right amount ??? ). But for now everything seems to be working.

"This is just silly." To this, I will agree and say, "no $+hit!" As for the "DAFT" comment, no need to be rude. I find WalMart to usually have many QUALITY products at a fair price, which some snobs do not dare tread out of fear of catching cooties. I shop at WalMart frequently and save money every time. I am very frugal and know how to shop and how to spend. As for Scott's: their days are numbered. I didn't want a recurrence of last year. As for being embarrassed for posting, why should I? We should all be able to expect a quality product from the manufacturer. It doesn't matter if it's dog food, carpet cleaner, or mulch. Performance matters. QUALITY CONTROL SUCKED AT THE MULCH FACILITY. When that cypress was sent through the chipper, it had all kinds of "road trash" or underbrush debris. The company didn't care and they sent it on to the consumer. You seem to forget, I am not the only person that had the same results. This was NOT a 'one bag' problem. Many of the people I came into contact with that bought the exact same mulch had similar problems. Furthermore, FYI the nursery that I usually purchased my pine mulch from was 'out' of cypress mulch, hence 'why' I bought bagged mulch from WalMart; plus they were a quarter a bag cheaper than HD at the time of purchase. Do the math... :D Had the mulch been a quality product, there would have been no problems. Let's let this be the end of talking about this mulch. This truly is old news. OK? Peace.

Bringing plastic bags back for your next shopping trip along with some fabric ones will reduce the bulk of bags. They don't take up much room. Use them until they break. At target, they sell large tote bags that fold & snap closed & smaller tote bags that zip up. And then they sell the standard size that grocery stores sell. I love the big one. My last shopping trip was small, but the bagger stuffed 1/4 of a cart of stuff into 2 bags (cashier gave me credit for 4) They were a bit heavy, but I managed. The bagger could have lightened the load a bit. I'm finding that one of my reusable bags is getting a hole in it...probably from toting around multiple 2ltrs in one bag. If my trip is a onsie purchase, I often tell them not to bag it. What irritates me about plastic is: 1. They rip. 2. Because they rip...the stores double bag stuff w/out question. 3. They roll around in my trunk & I end up having to tie them shut (which makes it harder to bring multiple bags in the house). (Reusable bags are more secure) 4. I take more trips from the car to the house. 5. they are inconvenient to recycle. 6. They don't fit over the shoulder. What I LIKE about them: 1. I have a trash can frame that supports the plastic bag handle style so that I can reuse them. 2. Need something for litter box use. 3. They are available when I forget my reusables.
