Well, as Chris summed up, there are a lot of variables.

Mounting a greenhouse on the south side of a building is generally a good idea, esp. in colder climates, and especially if you can store up heat during the day well. However, you'll have to maintain temperatures. This means good ventillation when it's hot. This can come in a variety of forms, ranging from just leaving the door openin the summer if it's a small gh, to small vents with big fans, to giant vents with no fans for passive venting, to shade cloth (and on, and on, and on...)

I know you have the answers so help me please,Santa will bring good things to you. The HFGH has four vents and I can put in what ever fans that I would need. I just dont know if it will get to hot to be able to maintain a temp. that is not to hot.

If it's too hot, add more vents and/or more/stronger fans. There's no greenhouse that gets so hot that adding more vents or fans can't fix it.

Really, I'd recommend trial and error. The standard recommendation is to circulate the air in the greenhouse once every minute and a half. Size your fans for that, and if you discover that it's still getting too hot, consider shade cloth or more ventilation.

I was wondering with it next to the pole building, if I would get to much heat off of the tin. I was going to put it a couple of feet from the bldg.

Do the HF vent openrs open automaticly?

If not were could I get some that would work with a temp. control?

Pcdur..you can put the greenhouse anywhere you want it. The full sun is the best idea, unless your growing low light plants. You will need shade cloth in the summer, and non in the winter. If you want to put it up against your building, go of it. I have my greenhouse running east to west because that is the way the sun rises and sets.

I thought that I would just use electric heat in winter.

If the sun moves along the south side of the east/west position, in order to heat, you would need the building to be on the north side and the greenhouse on the south side.

If you place your greenhouse on the north side, your in trouble. Also, check out your tree line, make sure the shade of the trees is not going to fall on top of your greenhouse during the winter months. You have to look at this in the winter, because in the summer the sun is higher in the sky verses the winter when its lower, so your angles are different.

If you can place it on the south side and get full sun in the day during the winter, your in a good position. That building will help alot being on the north side.

OK so you are growing annuals, I take it that you will only be using your greenhouse for 8 weeks or so.

The GH will be on the south side of the pole buldg. but there is no trees around anywhere on the south side, or east, west all I will have is the buldg. on the northside of the GH.

I will be over wintering my plants for the next year is my plan, thats why I need to make sure I get this right. I dont want to have it all set up in the wrong place, and not be able to keep it warm enough in the winter.

Ok, pcdur...sounds good. your greenhouse on the south, your building on the north, no trees. Sounds like a good set up to me. Place it up against your building if you want, that will keep your north wall protected, you should get plenty of sun during the day, if its out. Plants will be warm during the day. Now, nights are going to get cold without some heat. Plan on a heater of some type.

With this set up, your good to go. Start working...

To me, the south side of this pole building sounds ideal?
Being in Zone 6, the wall of the building would reflect light back to the greenhouse, actualy helping to heat in the winter.

you could put shadecloth on the wall of the pole building in the summer to cut down on the relection.
