Growing Clematis with Climbing Roses

I'm a complete noob when it comes to clematis. :-)

I have two that I need to choose spots for: H.F. Young (type 2) and Clematis Montana, which is a vigorous, dense grower.

I'm presuming that HF Young can be planted where it intertwines all through the climbers on my back fence line... and I was thinking that Montana could run along the top of the tall fence line trellising, mostly above the climbers. I'm concerned that it's vigorous enough to swamp the roses.

Am I correct? I would really appreciate the voice of experience.
