How do you dispose oil/gas mix?
Comments (15)Not a bad idea to be concerned about the cat and O2 sensor but I don't think it will be a problem if you dilute it thoroughly as said. I have a high mileage (293k) car with cat and O2 sensor that burns a qt of oil every ~700 miles and no issues besides a bit of blue smoke at times. That works out to about a qt of oil burned for every 28 gallons gas....See MoreUsing leftover mixed trimmer gas in lawn tractor?
Comments (8)Problem I see is if you don't really know how old the gas is? are you dating the can when you mixed it? Course being a oil changing nerd I even date my mix gas cans so I know exactly how old the gas is. If you have the basic skills to clean a carb then IMO if it does cause a problem you can fix it and not have to pay someone 100 bucks to get your lawn mower running right. I had a freind that would add old gas from his old car collection. Bad Idea if you don't have a clue how old the gas is. In His case his fairly new LT starting running like crap with all the problems we usually see here. Engine surging, won't idle, have to run it with the choke out Hard starting Ect.......See MoreGas/Oil Mix for Chain Saw
Comments (3)Per Mike Acres' website (Chainsaw Collectors Corner), the McCulloch TimberBear wanted 40:1. You should be more than adequately lubricated and protected at this ratio with a modern oil. Heck, you should be fine at 50:1 with a good oil, too, for what that's worth. The quality of two-stroke oils has increased so dramatically since the days of mixing straight 30wt motor oil in with the gas (at 16:1 or 32:1, no less), that it is no longer necessary to use these ultra-rich ratios to get the appropriate degree of protection. I now run full-synthetic Mobil Racing MX2T in all my two-stroke equipment (43:1, 6oz to 2 gallons), but was very pleased with the more practical and readily available Echo semi-synthetic stuff I ran for a number of years. You can buy the Echo semi-synthetic oil at most OPE dealers and I believe you can even get it at Home Depot, too. I believe that the Echo mix has fuel stabilizer in it, too, which is nice if you're not burning through your can of mixed gas every few days....See MoreMaybe a perfect gas mix for homeowner.
Comments (16)Yes it is expensive but there is that niche where people don't want to be bothered with figuring out what they need to do, storing it and doing it. Plus this does have a good shelf life. I mix my own and will even be purchasing my synthentic oil in bulk shortly. However, I will have a need for this ready mix. I need to bring a chainsaw on a long trip to help out a friend. They don't know anything about saws or engines and therefore don't stock the fuel I need. I'll gladly pick up one of these ready mixes to do the job. I'd never use the stuff at home, but I would probably recommend it to the HO that seldom runs a piece of equipment....See Morecanguy
