More weeds in sunny beds than in shady beds

I almost don't have to weed my shady beds at all. However, my beds in the sun need MUCH weeding. Weeds love the sun I guess, or they can germinate there better.

My friend just made a new garden bed in the sun. It's her only bed in full sun. I think she's going to be surprised once the weeds move in.

I liked the suggestions on the other post about using newspaper and cardboard, but it wouldn't work for me because I'm constantly moving plants around and it would get in the way.

However, once I find a part of the garden bed I like the way it is and won't change it (hey, it could happen), I'll try paper or cardboard instead of Preen.
