My CB is around 6 y/o and is in the middle of her 2nd full flush.These will be continous all season until Nov. She is a workhorse with little or no disease or pests. She loves to be pruned heavily. Within 2-3 days, every cut is sprouting new growth. Mine came from Chamblee's as Katy Rd. Pink but has been since id'd as CB.
She is the most carefree rose in my garden of 43 roses.

Lol, Pagan, yeah, they are sort of messy and shapeless critters... but give them a spot out in the landscape, a far away view as a hedge, or as an anchor to a more showy specimen plant that has a complimentary color, and this rose is fabulous! Like Buffington says, Carefree Beauty is a rose that needs hard pruning to keep it lush and full of foliage and blooms. Those aren't cutting flowers, they blow too quickly. But for the distant view, WOW! Such a bright, cheery pink!

I wanted to put some Carefree Beauty behind hostas out a bit around my bird feeder, but it needs full sun. The lady at the horticultural club that was involved in doing this garden a block from my house about 30 years ago told me that is what this rose is, photos taken in September 2003. First one is east side, second one is north side, but it's a more open area so picks up more sun than the spot where I wanted to have an arrangement like this.

Maybe it isn't as showy as other roses, but I think it is pretty with the hostas. It acts like its name. The people on the hosta forum told me the purple is lancifolia (got three at a plant sale), and weren't sure what the white one was.

Aliska, how beautiful! That is a gorgeous setting.

I have had Katy Road Pink for about 8-9 years and I do not hard prune it for bloom. I prune it by one-third, one of the few roses I do not hard prune. It is full of leaves and blooms all the time for us. Must be the difference in weather or soil. I have never had a problem with KRP. Mine is taller than I am, but then that's not really tall, but not one I would hard prune.

Thanks, patricia43. When I took the photos, I didn't think I'd be in it from the gardening angle, they just looked so pretty in the sunlight that late afternoon. It's mainly a spring lilac garden, but the gazebo is a popular place for weddings now.

When you said Katy Road Pink, I didn't know what you were talking about, but I looked it up at HMF. As usual their pictures so vary that you don't know if it is the same rose or not with a few of them, but many of them definitely are the same rose. And are simply stunning.

It is very disease resistant, and will grow in z4 and up.

That is confusing. Like Gruss an Aachen and Ida? Watts. Some of the photos at HMF of it are stunning, that rose doesn't have to take a back seat to any other imo.
