id request & newbie showoff

Hey guys,
I'm dropping in again with an id request, I've been looking for symmetrically shaped quartered blooms and found this pic

do you have any idea as to which it might be??Or even suggestions for similarly shaped roses??

Hiya Fenius - what an interesting wee collection - there isn't one I would turn down in my garden. although I am not familiar with Gartentraume (sounds like garden trauma - a familiar state for me)

Do post some pics of your fragrant flowers, please.

thanks campanula, nice to find you again, remember you dropped in sometime in the fragrant forum!
I would hate to triple post (already double posting for the fragrant and my greek forum)but if you click on any of the photos you can see the photobucket thread with all my plants..I only have two small balconies and my living room so I strictly try to keep the fragrant theme, but a few others have managed to push in!

For your shaded area (all perennials): Hostas!!! Epimedium Asarum (Ginger) Pulmonaria Dicentra (Bleeding Heart - I highly recommend the gold leafed variety 'Gold Heart' and any of the smaller, ever-blooming fern leaf types) Cimicifuga (any of the purple leafed varieties are especially nice...fall blooming) Ligularia (again, the purple leafed 'Brit-Marie Crawford is a favorite...lots of water for these!!) Tricyrtis (fall blooming) Helleborus Polemonium (Jacob's Ladder...'Stairway to Heaven' has colorful variegated foliage) Creeping Phlox does reasonably well in shade There are bunches of other neat shade plants, but these should be pretty easy to find locally.

Here's a possibility... It has... Two DWs, one on either side of the main sink. I really think it's better to have the DWs nearby b/c even if you plan to put different things in different DWs(like prep tools in one & dinner dishes in the other), inevitably things will be put in the "wrong" DW and then you have to run around finding things and/or putting them in the right place. If you want to use one for prep, the one on the left is still in the prep zone. The sink is no longer the first thing you see when guests come in from the Foyer, you will see the range, but if you get a nice hood it can actually be a plus that that's what you see first. Flow goes: From garage w/groceries to pantries & refrigerator From refrigerator & pantries to prep at the island/prep sink counter b/w sink & range (could also use b/w refrigerator & sink as additional prep)MW (reheat, cook frozen veggies, etc.) From prep to range or oven or MW From range or oven to either Breakfast Nook or island From island or BN to cleanup sink & DWs or refrigerator (leftovers) From DWs to being put away MW is next to the refrigerator and both are in the kitchen area but also on the perimeter where snackers can come through w/o interfering with the work being done in the kitchen Are you a baker? The corner and to the right would make an excellent baking center since it's so close to the wall oven and it has a deep corner for storing your mixer. There at at least 3 zones for prepping and cooking: b/w refrigerator & main sink b/w main sink & range on island...could actually accommodate 2 or 3 prepping/cooking b/c of its size! There's plenty of seating space for children & their friends or for just sitting around. Plenty of room for homework or projects on the island Still have a 48" range w/54" hood (the recommendation is that hoods be at least 6" wider than the cooking surface) 15" overhang on the island for seating I Moved the island north slightly so the island seats are completely out of the major traffic thoroughfare b/w the mudroom & the rest of the house. You still have a 48" to 51" aisle b/w the island and wall run of cabinets. 48" built-in or counter depth refrigerator. If it's counter depth, I recommend a finished end panel on the exposed end and a full depth (24") cabinet above the refrigerator. I think that's it.

Hi my user name is leslie_cunningham3 My real name is Leslie Cunningham I’m in 6b zone I am new to gardening in Kansas. We have REALLY SANDY SOIL. I had a garden growing up in Louisiana with my father. I was miltary wife and grew flowers only. When I moved to KS in early 90’s I have had gardens off and on but have always had purchase plants from stores. I had some success only when used chemicals and use potting soil. We have huge problems with insects and gophers. Last yr I lost over 3/4 of my garden to aphids squash bugs and gophers. Each yr I struggle with the decision to continue gardening. Which why Im super happy to have found this site. I did not see a seed exchange for KS on here nor have I found any local seed exchange. So this year I like to grow from seeds. I am looking for veggies herbs and flowers. Perennials and herlooms would be great as I would like to try organic gardening. I also like to learn how to gather my own seeds. I would like to send $ through PayPal I have edit my profile to include mgs from anyone. I have verified my email address and sent 2 emai to Val ( I forgot to include my mailing address in the 1st mgs)l. I have not listed veggies or seeds I have as I’m just starting out and I would like any kind of seeds available.

Hi, Fenius! Congratulations on your lovely blooms. I didn't participate in your older thread but I did read it, it was a good one. I am so glad to see your Jaqueline du Pre. She is supposed to be a bit of a challenge but I ordered her too -- this spring (no blooms yet). She was irresistable. Roseseek, I think, has suggested Dainty Bess as an alternative to JduP and I have that one too. Her first blooms are just opening and she has been my favorite "new" rose this year. Have you seen her? She is fragrant.

sidos, I had found the post on dainty bess too because I was scared off by some reviews of jdup, but eventually thought I'd risk it! Might try Dainty too when I have a garden...Strangely JduP was the first to bloom and has been blooming consistently for over a month while some of the others have not bloomed at all..felicite parmentier looks like a mummy too from the powdery mildew .. maybe I have made really crappy choices for my climate for jdup to seem like the star!!

Fenius, I'm probably too new at roses to even suggest an id but I look at the way that foliage grows and it really reminds me of my Climbing Eden. Here's a picture. People seem to love or poo-poo this rose. She was my first climber and rooted easily from cuttings, so I'm quite fond of her. I've never been very satisfied with her foliage though BUT have always felt it was because I wasn't giving her everything she needed or was mistreating her. She does not re-bloom for me. Except once, I had one flower bud in the fall, which turned brown. It gave me hope though. Since you have limited space there is probably a better alternative for you if this is indeed Cl. E.

fenius, I'm not good at guessing mystery roses names, but that photo sure looks like a David Austin rose to me. Which one, I'll leave you to decide.

Check out the Austin link below. I had the site search for Austin roses in the pastel peach/apricot/light pink/creamy / white range. Do any of them look like a match?

My first impression was Eden, and that was before I saw the other comment.
I don't grow it anymore, so can't compare it directly.

I don't think the mystery rose is 'Eden': the color is wrong, 'Eden' is creamy white blushed cool pink. It looks like an Austen to me, too. Nice roses: congratulations, and thanks for posting your pics! I agree, JdP is lovely.
Suzy, don't know if you know this already, but 'Traum' is German for dream. 'Garden Dream'.
