We had a very cold soft rain all night two nights ago. Our first rain in more weeks than I can even remember; it's been awful here. I gathered about 20 gallons of rainwater in buckets from roof run off...not a big rain but very welcome. I try to use rainwater for all my plants. If it's starting to rain, get out of my way, I'm grabbing buckets and milk jugs!

It started sometime Saturday night in northwest TN & hasn't stopped yet. A very nice slow drizzle & occasional downpours. Temps are in the 40s & 50s. We really need it so I'm not complaining, but it's making it real hard to dig the trench for the electric line to the new greenhouse. Just heard that it's finally raining in Atlanta too. They need it even more than us.

This afternoons drizzly rain turned into big, fat flakes of snow coming down thick and fast around 3 pm.
Darn....the snow from Fri was just about melted away too. I want this to disappear so I can finish my raised beds before winter truly arrives.

I think I may get to learn how to plow snow, with a dump truck and plow, at work tomorrow though. :)

I'll trade this weather for NM's or SC anytime!
Been thru Las Cruces many times Mudhouse on motorcycle trips to NM and AZ etc. Must confess I snuck a couple echiverias home too from a nursery south of Santa Fe. hehe

Well it has finally passed and I hate to see it go. I forgot to put my rain gauge out so I don't know how much fell, but it must have been at least 2 inches.

A pleasant 52 ;right now at 7:22pm. The Dawg is out, but will return soon for "cookies"

Here in East AL we had a WONDERFUL weekend compared to what it's been. It rained off an on all night Saturday then stayed damp, cloudy and sprinkled off and on the next day. Sunday night was even better with several big bands of wet weather that passed through during the night. I don't have a rain gauge so I'm not sure what our totals were but it didn't disappoint here. It's trying to drizzle again so we may get more tonight even though the chances of rain dropped to 20% or lower for the next week. I swear they can't predict diddly though. Those percentages on weather.com might drop from 70% to 20% or reverse and go from 20% to 70% within just a couple of hours. I don't even know why I bother checking them so often anymore. Up-to-date local forcasting my @$$.

I have about 20 30+g bins under the eves of the outbuilding and Rion GH. I catch hundreds of gallons of rain water. I not only use it for my plants (African Violets and orchids love it) but also to dilute the hard alkaline water for my tropical fish.

It was 60F here today so I opened the GH and gave the plants some fresh air. I moved all the plants into the Rion and sun-room this past weekend.

It rained here again today. A good downpour this afternoon that refilled all the rainwater bins. Then it drizzled for awhile. :)

Most of the garden flowers are gone. The petunias, snapdragons, pansies and a few other hardy souls are still blooming. The Swiss chard, self-sown leaf lettuce and Collards are growing like crazy.

Wyndyacre, anyone that likes plants enough to smuggle them on a motorcycle trip is A-OK with me. If you come through again, stop here and I'll tuck a plant in your pocket for the road.

Ole Dawg, I tried to buy a rain gauge here but nobody knew what it was. ;-)

Greenhouser, I may stop by your place in TN to see how you handle your rainwater collection. (I have to go right through there anyway to pick up John's soggy leaves in PA.)
