White Pines in the Southeast

MissSherry

White pines/p. strobus don't grow naturally here, and the only part of the South where my range maps show them as occurring naturally is the Smoky and Cumberland Mountains. I assume they don't like heat? Have any of you in the Deep South ever planted one? They look to be quite attractive, and I think I remember reading that they're fast growing.
